After a significant makeover in 2021, the Nissan Kicks returns for 2022 virtually unchanged.
Value is at the heart of this small 5-passenger crossover’s mission statement. Although its exterior styling is sufficiently pleasing, nothing is dazzling about Kicks beyond bang for your buck.
As a subcompact crossover, it excels as an urban runabout. Roomy, fuel-efficient, and easy to park, Kicks shines as everyday transport.
We also like Kicks for its array of standard driver aids, high seating position, and well-functioning interior.
We’d welcome a couple of improvements, like available all-wheel drive and a turbocharged engine option. However, Kicks shines as an economical people and cargo mover.
Kicks goes toe-to-toe with competitors like Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Mazda CX-30.
Nissan offers Kicks in three grades: S, SV, and SR.
Providing the thrust for every Kicks is a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. An automatic transmission shuffles engine production to the front wheels.
According to government estimates, Kicks delivers 31 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg in combined driving.
