What is an alert?
An alert is a service that notifies a MyAutotrader member when new or updated information is available based on your saved searches. For example, when a car is added to the MyAutotrader site that matches your saved search criteria, we will send you an email. Visit My Searches or My Cars page to set up an alert.
How do i set up an email alert?
If you have at least one saved search, follow the steps below to set up an alert:
- Go to My Searches or My Cars page.
- Select the “Receive email alerts” checkbox.
- Select the desired frequency to receive alerts. Your alerts will be sent to you either daily or weekly, depending on your selection.
If you are in the midst of saving a search, follow the steps below to set up an alert:
- Name the search you want to save.
- Select the “Receive email alerts” checkbox.
- Select the desired frequency to receive alerts. Your alerts will be sent to you either daily or weekly, depending on your selection.
- Click the “Update” button.
Note: You only have to set up this alert once and it applies to all your saved searches. You need at least one saved search in order to set up an alert.
How do I set up a text alert?
If you have at least one saved search, follow the steps below to set up an alert:
- Go to My Searches or My Cars page.
- Select the “Receive text alerts” checkbox and enter your mobile number.
- Confirm your subscription by selecting the checkbox.
- Select the desired frequency to receive alerts. Your alerts will be sent to you either daily or weekly, depending on your selection.
- You’ll receive a confirmation text message. Reply YES to the message.

- Name the search you want to save.
- Select the “Receive text alerts” checkbox and enter your mobile number.

Where do I view the matches for my saved searches?
You can view your matches on the MyAutotrader site or by email. To view alerts on site, follow the steps below:
- Go to the My Searches page.
- Click the ‘Go’ button to view new matches for your saved searches.
To view alerts by email: Click on the link provided in the email to view new matches for your saved searches.
How do I cancel my alerts?
To cancel your alerts , follow the steps below:
- Go to My Searches or My Cars page.
- Uncheck the checkbox for the alert you wish to cancel.
- Click the “Update” button.
Note: If you cancel your membership with My Autotrader, your alerts will automatically be canceled.
How do I cancel my subscriptions?
Subscription information is sent by email and includes shopping tips, promotional messages and other useful information. To cancel the subscription emails, follow the steps below:
- Go to My Searches or My Cars page.
- Click “Cancel all alerts” link
- Click the “Cancel Alerts” button

- Select one of the pages below in the dropdown menu.
- Click “Go.”
My Summary – This page gives you a quick glimpse of your searches, cars and alerts. My Searches – This page lets you manage your saved searches. Rename, delete or modify your saved searches. You can also customize your search to view results based on the timeframe selected. My Cars – This page lets you keep track of your saved cars. Rename, delete, or compare your cars. Or go directly to the car details page to get additional information. My Profile – This page lets you update your personal information, email address, preferences and more. Be sure to save your settings when you are finished updating your profile.
About My Membership Information
What if I forgot my password?

How can I change my email address, password or other membership information?
Your membership info is located in My Profile. Just look for My Autotrader at the top right of every page, and select View Account and select the My Profile tab. Thanks for keeping your membership info up to date!
How do I save a car listing?
It’s easy: Start a new search and view your results. When you see a car you like, click “Save this Car” on the search results listing or car details page. Next, name the car for easy organizing.
How many cars can I save?
You can save up to 50 cars to My Autotrader. From My Cars, you can sort, rename, compare and delete your saved cars. Plus, you can go directly to the car details page.
How do I save a search?
For starters, you’ll have to create a new search by selecting the criteria you want most in a car. Click “Search Autotrader” and view the results. If you like what you get, click “Save Search Criteria” at the top of the page. Next, name your search criteria for easy organizing.
