Here are the five most frequently asked questions when creating an ad for your car.

How do I upload pictures to my ad?

Click the select photo button. Your saved photos on your device or computer will appear. Locate the photo you would like to upload. Once you select your photo, it will automatically upload. Photo Tip: Images should be in landscape orientation, have good lighting, and have a pleasant background. Your photo size should not exceed 10MB.

How do I get my photos from my camera to my computer?

Please consult the owner’s manual for your camera and computer for complete instructions on transferring pictures to your computer.

For general reference, there are three ways to transfer photos:

• With a USB cable: You can use a USB cable to connect your digital camera to your computer. Most digital cameras come with a USB cable — plug one end into the camera and the other into the computer. Your computer reads your camera like it’s another drive on your computer, and software already installed on your computer can help you get the photos off your camera.
• With a memory card: Some computers come with a slot for memory cards or a cable with a reader. Simply insert your digital camera’s memory card into the computer or reader and your computer will recognize the card and ask where you’d like to save your photos. To find them easily later, save them in the My Pictures folder.
• With a docking station: Your camera may have a docking station, or you can buy one if your camera is compatible. The docking station plugs into your computer and sits on your desk to make connecting your camera to your computer a little easier.

Can I edit my photos before I upload them?

For best results, you should not manipulate your images prior to uploading them to our site. Simply upload the best images you have.

What file formats do you recommend?
.JPG, .JPEG
.BMP
.GIF

What size photos should I upload?
Select a size or quality setting that makes the image 640 x 480 or larger for best results, but limit the total size of the photo file to under 10MB. We resize and optimize all images for presentation and speed on our site.

Should I be concerned about resolution?
A higher or finer resolution produces a better-quality image, but it creates a larger file. Larger image files take a long time to upload on a slow internet connection or mobile network. Digital cameras have different features for controlling quality and resolution. Consult your owner’s manual to determine which settings work best.

How long will it take for my image(s) to appear on the site?
Regardless of whether you selected a one-photo ad or a multi-photo ad, all images will post to the site within 24 hours.

How do I remove my ad?

Go to the Sell My Car page. In the right-hand corner, click on the Manage or Remove Ad button. Enter your email address and Ad ID to log in to your account. Click the Remove Ad button at the top of the page.

How do I find the VIN? 

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique 17-character sequence of numbers and letters assigned to each car by the manufacturer when the car is built. This number can be found in these places: The driver’s side of the dashboard by the window, the driver’s side doorjamb, and on your auto insurance card or state registration form.
