The 2022 Audi Q5 is the middle child in the luxury brand’s SUV lineup, offering a potent turbocharged engine, the option of a plug-in hybrid, and a sizzling high-performance variant dubbed the SQ5.
The standard Q5 features a very familiar silhouette, while the Sportback models with their sloping rear roof sacrifice a bit of utility and interior cargo space in the name of aesthetics.
Luxury amenities vary as you climb the trim ladder. Still, even the most basic Premium model can be equipped with more features, allowing buyers to customize their Q5 to suit their taste and budget.

2022 Audi Q5 Premium (starting at $44,100), (Plug-in hybrid starting at $52,900)
The introductory Premium trim comes with a 261-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and standard quattro all-wheel drive. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is the only transmission option. Though minimal in size, the Q5’s standard engine can propel it to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds.
On the outside, the Q5 Premium sports standard S line styling elements, set off by 18-inch wheels and aluminum S line door inlays with illuminated S logo. LED headlights and taillights, along with power heated side mirrors and a rear roof spoiler are also standard.
True to its luxury pedigree, the Q5 offers leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power tailgate. The driver’s seat is power-adjustable eight ways and includes a 4-way power lumbar support.
Climate control is handled automatically over three zones, and the rear seat includes a 40/20/40 configuration with a reclining feature. Keyless entry with push-button start is also standard, as is a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with paddle shifters.
A large 10.1-inch MMI touch screen displays audio and infotainment information and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. A 10-speaker/180-watt audio system is standard, as is a rearview camera and 7-inch color driver information screen.
On the driver-assist front, the Q5 includes front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring (Audi Side Assist) with rear cross-traffic alert, low-speed automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, Audi pre-sense basic collision detection, and lane-keeping assist. A notable standard feature is the Integrated Toll Module (ITM) that acts as a toll transponder pass on select U.S. and Canadian toll roads.
Optional equipment for the Q5 Premium includes 19-inch wheels, rear-seat side airbags, a power panoramic sunroof, and the Convenience Package that adds Audi Advanced Key proximity keyless entry and start, auto-dimming power-folding side mirrors, a heated steering wheel, SiriusXM satellite radio, and driver’s seat memory.

The Premium Plus includes most of the Premium’s optional equipment, including the panoramic sunroof and Convenience Package contents, but has more luxury and safety equipment.
Also standard are 19-inch alloy wheels, a power-adjustable steering column, and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit. The 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit screen serves as a display for the digitally simulated gauges, infotainment system, and available navigation. A top-view camera gives a clear 360-degree view outside the vehicle, while Audi’s Phone Box includes a signal booster and wireless charge pad.
On the safety front, the Premium Plus gains adaptive cruise control, active lane centering, and traffic jam assist.

2022 Audi Q5 Premium Plus includes:

At the top of the Q5 line is the aptly named Prestige. It includes all the Premium Plus features and most of its optional equipment, including navigation, the B&O sound system, and ventilated sport seats.
The Prestige also gains Matrix-design LED headlights with washers, a head-up display, heated rear seats, Park Assist parallel parking assistant, traffic sign recognition, and unique 19-inch alloy wheels.

The Q5 Sportback uses the same engine and all-wheel-drive system as the Q5, but it has a sportier appearance and slightly less interior volume. The Q5 Sportback costs nearly $4,500 more than the Q5, but it also includes more standard equipment, such as the panoramic sunroof, sport seats, and 19-inch wheels.

2022 Audi SQ5 (starting at $53,900)
The SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback follow the same Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim tiers as the Q5, offering some variation of the standard and optional equipment on each trim.
Unique to the SQ5 is a 349-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine and 8-speed Tiptronic transmission. The SQ5 can bolt to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph.
