2022 Chevrolet Blazer: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer continues its winning streak, offering aggressive good looks, a healthy roster of available equipment, and competitive pricing.

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer continues its winning streak, offering aggressive good looks, a healthy roster of available equipment, and competitive pricing. With seating for only five passengers, the Blazer aims to take on rivals like the Ford Edge, Honda Passport, Nissan Murano, and Toyota Venza.

Last year’s entry-level L and 1LT trims have been dropped, along with their rather anemic engine and lackluster equipment list. That leaves the turbocharged 2LT as the entry-level trim. Unfortunately, it also means the Blazer can no longer lay claim to a sub-$30,000 base price. However, with more standard features, the Blazer is now on better footing with its rivals, at least as far as equipment goes.

Regrettably, only the top two trims open the door to more popular options. Hence, the value prospect dims somewhat once you start adding navigation, premium audio, or adaptive cruise control.

The rest of the Blazer lineup closely mimics last year’s trims, with some equipment shuffling plus a few new standard features and colors.

The LT and Premier trims include a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, with a 3.6-liter V6 standard in the RS and optional on the 3LT and Premier. All-wheel drive is optional on all trims, with the RS getting a more advanced AWD setup featuring twin-clutch transmission.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer 2LT (Starting at $33,400)

The 2LT comes standard with a 228-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, a 9-speed automatic, and front-wheel drive. Auto start/stop with disable remains an unavoidable standard feature.

Standard driver safety systems include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, and auto high-beam headlights. However, if you want a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, or rear park assist, you’ll have to check an option box. And adaptive cruise control requires moving to at least the RS trim, and even then, it’s an extra-cost option.

The Blazer 2LT rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and has a compact spare tire. The power side mirrors are heated and fold manually, and privacy glass covers the rear windows and tailgate. Automatic on/off HID headlights come standard.

You’ll find cloth seats and an 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support in the cabin. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes, the power windows feature one-touch express down, with the driver’s window having express up/down. Cruise control is standard, as is a proximity key fob that allows the vehicle to unlock and start simply by having the fob on your person.

A dual-zone automatic climate control system includes a pollen filter and allows the front passengers to choose their own temperature setting, while rear-seat passengers enjoy cool or warm air through console-mounted vents.

Some features worthy of mention include an electronic locking glove box with a touchscreen pin code, a 4.2-inch color driver information display, and Rear Seat Reminder. In addition, active Noise Cancellation uses the audio system to help cancel out specific obnoxiously loud frequencies.

GM’s Teen Driver technology allows parents to set limits on speed and audio volume, prevent specific safety systems from being turned off, and deliver a report card on their child’s driving skills.

The standard tire pressure monitor keeps watch over all four tires, and the Tire Fill Alert system signals with audible and visual alerts when an inflating tire is at the correct pressure.

Entertainment is handled by Chevy’s Infotainment 3 system featuring an 8-inch touchscreen hosting Bluetooth streaming, voice control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM with a 3-month free trial subscription. The system is also Wi-Fi hot spot compatible, plus includes two USB ports in the front console and two more for charging in the rear-seat area.

Optional equipment is mainly bundled into packages. The Redline Edition adds a two-tone roof, 20-inch gloss-black wheels, and black treatment for the grille, window trim, mirror caps, header bar, and door handles. The Midnight/Sport Edition brings similar styling cues, only in all black.

The Convenience and Driver Confidence package adds heated front seats, remote start, a programmable power liftgate, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitor, rear park assist, and auto-dimming outside mirrors.

A Trailering package is available for the front-drive models (it’s standard with all-wheel drive), as well as a heavy-duty cooling system and an engine block heater. There are also numerous wheel and tire options, ranging from 18- to 20-inches, and even more storage, appearance, and roadside safety packages.

All-wheel drive adds another $2,700 to the Blazer’s bottom line.

Figuring in the $1,195 destination fee, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer 2LT lists for $34,595. Assuming no money down on a 60-month loan at 3% financing, the monthly payment comes to $622. Find a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer 2LT for sale

2022 Chevrolet Blazer 2LT includes:

  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – Make it possible to play your smartphone-based music, apps, messages, and navigation through the car’s infotainment system.
  • 2.0-liter turbocharged engine – With 228 horsepower, this little engine delivers good performance and even better fuel economy.
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control – Allows the driver and passenger to create mini climate zones, a nice feature for people who don’t always agree on a comfortable temperature.
  • Rear seat air vents – It might seem like a trivial thing until you realize how many SUVs don’t offer them on entry-level models.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer 3LT ($37,600)

Mechanically, the Blazer 3LT looks pretty much like the 2LT, the one exception being an available V6 engine option.

The 3LT borrows many of the 2LT’s optional equipment packages as part of its standard equipment roster, including the Convenience and Driver Confidence package contents.

It then adds perforated leather upholstery, 6-way power front passenger seat, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Options for the 3LT above the 2LT’s offerings include the 308-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine that increases towing to 4,500 pounds. In addition, the Sound and Technology package adds navigation, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, 2 USB data ports, and an SD card reader in the front console. Also included are 360-degree HD Surround Vision camera, rear camera mirror, and a 120-volt outlet.

A panoramic glass sunroof is also available.

With destination, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer 3LT comes to $38,795. With no money down, a 60-month loan at 3% financing results in a $697 monthly payment, just $75 more than the 2LT. Find a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer 3LT V6 for sale

2022 Chevrolet Blazer 3LT includes:

  • Perforated leather seats – These seats give the Blazer an upscale look and are easier to keep clean than cloth seats.
  • Blind-spot monitor – Monitors traffic on either side of the vehicle and alerts the driver when a car is driving in your blind spot. The system includes rear cross-traffic alert that works the same way with cars crossing behind the Blazer.
  • Power liftgate – Makes it easy to access the cargo bay when both arms are full of groceries or when you need the liftgate opened remotely from a distance.
  • Available V6 engine – The optional 3.6-liter V6 has the power needed for rapid passing maneuvers, plus it elevates the Blazer’s tow rating from 1,500 to 4,500 pounds.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer RS ($41,100)

The RS trim brings the sizzle to the Blazer lineup, with a standard V6 engine and more aggressive styling.

The RS’s standard equipment builds off the 3LT and includes a hands-free power liftgate, black perforated leather upholstery with red stitching, additional LED interior lighting, and 20-inch gloss-black wheels. Also in the mix are navigation, heated steering wheel, cloud-connected personal services, and blackout treatment for the grille, window surrounds, roof rails, and rocker panels.

The RS offers a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM 360. An enhanced version of the standard SiriusXM service, 360 brings expanded content and more straightforward navigation but requires Sirius’ All Access package.

Options for the RS include the Enhanced Convenience package with Bose audio, power-adjustable steering column, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and memory setting for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and steering column.

The Driver Confidence II package brings an HD Surround Vision camera, safety alert driver’s seat, rear-camera mirror with washer, adaptive cruise control, advanced automatic emergency braking, LED headlights, and a wireless charge pad.

Larger 21-inch wheels are optional. The RS’s more advanced AWD system adds another $2,900 to the bottom line.

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer RS with destination costs $42,295. On a 60-month loan at 3% financing and with no money down, the monthly payment comes to $760. That’s less than $65 more each month than the 3LT.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer RS includes:

  • 3.6-liter V6 engine – With 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, this engine has the muscle to move the Blazer with gusto. And it can tow up to 4,500 pounds.
  • Available Safety Alert Seat – Working in conjunction with the blind-zone monitor, this system will vibrate either the left or right seat cushion bolster, alerting the driver to a vehicle in their blind spot.
  • Available adaptive cruise control – Allows the Blazer to follow traffic at a set distance, slowing or speeding up with traffic flow.
  • Automatic heated steering wheel – Operates when the heated seats are activated or via a button on the steering wheel. Find 2022 Chevrolet Blazer RS for sale

2022 Chevrolet Blazer Premier ($41,100)

At the top of the Blazer trim line is the Premier. As you might suspect, it includes all the features found on the RS trim and then adds a few more luxury and safety options to justify its $40,000-plus asking price. The Premier’s standard engine is the 2.0-liter turbo, with the 3.6-liter V6 optional.

Additional standard features include a chrome-trimmed horizontal grille, chrome roof rails, chrome interior accents, and unique 20-inch wheels.

Also standard is perforated leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel.

Notable options for the Premier include the Driver Confidence II package and the Enhanced Convenience package (see RS for details), as well as several exterior visual enhancement upgrades.

As the Premier and RS share the same base price, the monthly payment will be the same.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer Premier includes:

  • Available heated and ventilated front seats – Help keep you cool in summer and toasty warm in winter.
  • Available heated rear seats – Offer an excellent way to keep back-seat passengers comfortable while waiting for the climate control to get warm.
  • Available Bose audio – This 8-speaker sound system is designed especially for the Blazer’s interior, with thundering bass, bright highs, and plenty of volume. Find the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer Premier for sale
