With the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, there are two versions for 2022 — a carryover model called the Silverado 1500 Limited and an updated new version called the Silverado 1500.
This Autotrader Trim Review is about the former, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited.
Though it’s largely unchanged for 2022, we like the Chevrolet Silverado Limited pickup for its impressive range of engines, state-of-the-art trailering technology, and excellent ride quality.
Chevy separates the 2022 Silverado Limited into nine trim levels: Work Truck (WT), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2.
Many of these grades are further parsed by the engine, cab configuration, cargo-box length, and whether they are rear-wheel drive (RWD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD).
4WD is a $3,300 upcharge across the lineup, except for the Regular Cab WT, where it’s $4,600.
Power and Fuel Economy
Having deep-sixed its V6 for 2022, Chevy powers the Silverado Limited with four engine choices: one turbo 4-cylinder, two V8s, and one turbodiesel.
Occupying the bottom rung of the engine ladder is the 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. You can find it in the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss.
According to the EPA, a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Silverado Limited with the 2.7 delivers 19 miles per gallon in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg in combined driving. Pop for 4WD, and the numbers change to 17/20/18.
Motivating the LTZ and High Country is a 5.3-liter V8 also feeding the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. It’s available on the grades from the Custom Trail Boss on up.
The 5.3-liter RWD Silverado with the 6-speed automatic is rated 16 mpg city/21 mpg highway/18 mpg combined. Adding 4WD reduces those numbers to 14/18/16.
With the 10-speed automatic transmission, the 4WD 5.3-liter Silverado Limited is rated at 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway/16 mpg combined.
Available as an upgrade on versions of the 4WD RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country is the 6.2-liter V8. It has 4WD standard and also uses a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The EPA fuel economy of the most efficient 4WD Silverado Limited with the 6.2-liter V8 is 15 mpg city/20 mpg highway/17 mpg combined.
Finally, the Silverado Limited’s most efficient engine is a 3.0-liter inline-6-cylinder turbodiesel married to the 10-speed automatic. You can order it on versions of every grade with 4WD, except the Custom.
With RWD, the 2022 Silverado Limited diesel is rated at 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway/26 mpg combined. Opting for 4WD scrubs off a few mpg to 22/26/24.
Maximum towing is 13,300 pounds, which you can achieve with either the 6.2L V8 or the 3.0L Turbodiesel.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited WT (Starting at $29,900)
The only Silverado Limited grade offering a regular cab, the WT regular cab is about as basic as a full-size truck gets.
The listed price is for the 2022 Chevy Silverado WT with RWD and the long cargo box.
Standard features are 17-inch steel wheels, auto on/off halogen headlights, manual windows and door locks, rearview camera, and 40/20/40 split-bench seat.
A tilt-only steering wheel, capless fuel filler, air conditioning, and vinyl upholstery are among the other standard fare.
Its infotainment system is a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, 2-speaker audio system, USB port, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
You can pony up another $3,900 for the Double Cab or $6,600 for the Crew Cab. If you do, they include power windows and door locks, as well as a 6-speaker audio system.

For example, the WT Safety Package ($1,140) adds forward-collision warning with emergency braking.
Adding the $1,695 destination fee to the WT base price equals $31,595. Financing with no money down for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $568 per month. See 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited WT models for sale

Maybe a chart would make the excellent info I this article easier to compare?
I agree. Full-size pickups have so many puzzle pieces, there is no easy way to organize all the choices into anything that flows or is easy to decipher. It’s the nature of the beast. Thanks for reading and the comment.
