Sharing the rarefied air atop the crowded compact SUV segment with the 2022 Toyota RAV4, the 2022 Honda CR-V returns unchanged.
That means it still represents just about everything we want in a small crossover. It’s roomy, comfy, fuel-efficient, dependable, and it retains its value. Oh, and it’s loaded with technology.
Our only beef with the CR-V is the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its base LX trim.
Otherwise, what’s not to like?
Honda offers the five-passenger CR-V in five trim levels: LX, Special Edition (SE), EX, EX-L, and Touring. Each comes standard with the Honda Sensing suite of driver aids.
Every CR-V sources its thrust from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Output travels to the wheels by way of an automatic transmission.
Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, but Honda offers all-wheel drive (AWD) as a $1,500 option on all grades.
The government-estimated fuel economy with FWD is 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg in combined driving.
Opting for AWD only has a small effect, dropping the numbers to 27 mpg city/32 mpg highway/29 mpg combined.

2022 Honda CR-V LX (Starting at $25,750)
The LX comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, auto on/off headlights, remote entry, automatic climate control, LED daytime running lights, and a tilt-telescopic steering wheel.
The infotainment system features include a 5-inch color screen, 4-speaker audio system, Bluetooth with voice recognition, Pandora, and a USB port.
Among the driver aids are forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and high-beam assist.
Beyond AWD, Honda doesn’t offer any factory-installed options on any grade.

2022 Honda CR-V LX Includes:
- Turbocharged engine – This 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. It delivers a government-estimated 30 mpg gallon in combined driving.
- Honda Sensing – A suite of driver aids including forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, and adaptive cruise control.

2022 Honda CR-V SE (Starting at $26,950)
The $1,200 bump over the LX is well spent as it adds remote start, keyless entry, variable intermittent wipers, and heated power outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Other additional content includes push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats.
The SE adds a 7-inch touchscreen, a more powerful 6-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto to the LX infotainment content.

2022 Honda CR-V SE Includes:

We recommend the EX grade as the best content-versus-price value unless leather seating is a must-have for you.
