Kia is no stranger to the EV game, and the new EV6 is a legitimate rival to Ford’s Mustang Mach E, Tesla Model Y, and Volkswagen ID.4. Along with a remarkable list of features, the EV6 offers an impressive maximum range of 310 miles.
But the EV6’s bragging rights aren’t rooted in its range but in its charging time, requiring just 18 minutes to reach an 80% charge. The 2022 Kia EV6 is sold with a 1,000-kWh credit of free charging via the Electrify America network. This credit, usable over three years, is good for about 4,000 miles of driving in the rear-drive EV6 with the 77.4-kWh battery.
2022 Kia EV6 First Edition ($58,500)
The first Kia EV6 out the door is the best equipped, and consequently, the most expensive. Only 1,500 of these First Edition Kia EV6s are being made, and they all sold out in only 11 hours.
With a starting price of $58,500, the First Edition is a dual-motor EV6 with all-wheel drive, a 77.4-kWh lithium-ion battery, and a range of 274 miles. The combined output of the two motors is 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque, which makes this EV6 plenty quick, able to reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.
The First Edition also looks great. It’s available in three color combinations — Urban Yellow with black seats (exclusive to the First Edition), Glacier White with dark green seats, or Steel Gray Matte with black seats.
Standard features on the First Edition include unique badging, a head-up display (with augmented reality), Remote Smart Parking Assist, a sunroof, 20-inch wheels, and a premium 14-speaker Meridian audio system. This EV6 also has illuminated door sills and a numbered interior badge.
Interestingly, the First Edition EV6 was offered to buyers with one of these three gifts – an at-home vehicle charger, a 1000-kWh charging credit, or an Apple Watch. In the final tally, 1,219 buyers chose the charger, 154 picked the charging credit, and 127 opted for the Apple Watch.
The EV6 features the world’s first multi-charging system that supports 400-volt and 800-volt DC charging. When using a DC-fast-charging station, the EV6 can attain 70 miles of range in just 5 minutes or up to 210 miles in about 18 minutes. Other less expensive and less powerful battery pack options appear on the lesser trims.
The EV6 features a 110-volt outlet and an adapter to draw from the external charge port. This setup permits the EV6 to serve as a power source for tools, computers, or tailgate parties. It can even charge another EV or serve as backup power to your home in the event of a power outage.
Other advanced EV6 First Edition features include junction turning and junction crossing, two systems intended to help avoid frontal collision when approaching an intersection or making a left turn across traffic. Automatic high-beam headlights know to shut off when encountering oncoming vehicles, while navigation-based Smart Cruise Control knows to slow the vehicle when detecting sharp curves ahead.
Adaptive cruise control keeps a safe distance to the traffic ahead and can slow, stop, and then resume speed once the coast is clear. The EV6 can even center itself in its lane and assist with making lane changes when the driver activates the turn signal. Other noteworthy features include rear occupant alert and Safe Exit that warns of approaching traffic. Safe Exit can even lock the doors to prevent opening when equipped with the available Power Child Lock feature.
Highway Drive Assist 2 semi-autonomous driving capability is also standard, as is an augmented reality head-up display that shows a 3D image projected out over the car’s hood. Remote Smart Parking allows the driver to summons or park the EV6 remotely from outside the vehicle, a helpful feature when a cramped parking space makes it difficult to open the doors.
The EV6 features a dual-integrated panoramic 12-inch center cluster and infotainment screens, with a combination of touch controls and rotary knobs for the automatic climate control and audio, plus a rotary gear selector. The minimalist interior is functional and attractive, with extensive recycled materials throughout, including vegan leather on some surfaces.
First Edition models include a 14-speaker Meridian audio system available on other trims as an optional upgrade. Kia Connected, formerly called UVO, connects the driver with a host of helpful features, including a Wi-Fi hotspot, stolen vehicle recovery, Kia Pay (allows the driver to conduct a transaction over the network), roadside assistance, and access to voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
The First Edition also gets a 360-degree Surround View Monitor, 20-inch wheels, and a power sunroof. Other standard items include LED headlights and taillights, heated power side mirrors, a wireless charging pad, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and a hands-free power liftgate.
With the $1,215 destination fee, the 2022 Kia EV6 First Edition costs $59,715. On a 60-month loan at 3% financing and zero down, the monthly payment comes to $1,073. But remember, all 1,500 First Edition models have been sold. See 2022 Kia EV6 models for sale

- Augmented Reality head-up display – Projects a 3D image of what is ahead onto the base of the windshield, which ends up looking like a 3D image on the hood.

2022 Kia EV6 Wind includes:
77.4-kWh battery – This lithium-ion polymer battery is larger than the one in the EV6 Light, and it powers a 225-horsepower motor. It’s good for a max range of 310 miles (RWD).
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) – With this external power port and included connector, you can use the EV6 to recharge your electric bikes or run your blender at the campsite.

The Kia EV6 GT-Line has a sportier appearance, thanks to exclusive GT-Line trim and 20-inch wheels.
While the GT-Line models have the same battery and motor (and range figures) as the EV6 Wind, they are equipped more thoroughly with features such as a power sunroof and Highway Drive Assist 2, a semi-autonomous driving program.
Pop-out flush door handles and body-color wheel arches help to distinguish the GT-Line, which also has a flat-bottom steering wheel, deluxe scuff plates, and optional suede upholstery with vegan leather trim. Additional standard hardware on the EV6 GT-Line includes a rear parking distance warning, automatic lane changing, a head-up display, a surround-view monitor, and an enhanced collision-avoidance system.
This electric Kia also has one of our favorite safety technologies: a blind-spot view monitor that uses a camera to display on the digital instrument panel a crisp video image of whatever is in your rear three-quarter blind spot.
The all-wheel-drive EV6 GT-Line, with dual motors, 320 horsepower, and a range of 274 miles, starts at $55,900.
With the $1,215 destination charge, the GT-Line EV6 comes to $52,415. With zero down and a 60-month loan at 3%, financing that amount comes out to $942 a month. See 2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line models for sale
2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line includes:
Pop-out door handles – These door handles sit flush with the body when not in use, aiding aerodynamics.
Flat-bottom steering wheel – Not really needed for extra thigh clearance, but it looks cool.
Highway Driving Assist 2 – This semi-autonomous driving system works well on the highway, but the driver’s hands must remain on the steering wheel. Has an automatic lane-change feature.
Surround-View Monitor – With cameras providing a 360-degree view around the EV6 GT-Line, crowded parking lots and driveways are less of a danger zone.
2022 Kia EV6 GT ($60,000, estimated)
The 576-horsepower Kia EV6 GT will arrive late in 2022 with an estimated price of $60,000.
The Kia EV6 GT won’t arrive until late in 2022, but it will be a significantly more potent EV, with standard AWD, 576 horsepower, and a lightning-quick 0-60-mph time of less than 3.5 seconds. Naturally, we expect the Kia EV6 GT to have big brakes and be generously equipped, along the lines of a loaded Kia EV6 First Edition. See 2022 Kia EV6 GT models for sale
2022 Kia EV6 GT includes:
Powerful motors – The combined output of the upcoming Kia EV6 GT’s two electric motors is 576 horsepower. There’s a 160-kilowatt motor in front and a 270-kilowatt motor in back.
Standard AWD – It’s so much better to put that abundant power to the pavement via four wheels instead of two. Proof? Kia claims a 0-60-mph time of less than 3.5 seconds for the EV6 GT, which arrives for sale late in 2022.
