Although not wildly changed, the 2022 Lexus LC 500 does make some news.
At the top of the list, Lexus has tinkered with the suspension and steering to tighten the handling.
The other notable LC enhancement is the introduction of a new option package Lexus is calling “Bespoke Build.” With the Sport Package as its foundation, Bespoke Build is only available for the V8 Coupe.
Breaking down the LC into two powertrains, you have the LC 500 with its V8 engine and the LC 500h, a gas-electric hybrid (HEV).
Lexus offers the LC 500 in a coupe and a folding-hardtop convertible. The LC 500h comes in coupe only.
More of a touring machine than a sports car, LC is about elegance, a pleasant ride, and convenience. It’s more of a glass slipper than a running shoe.
We like it for its drop-dead good looks, beautifully appointed cabin, high degree of reliability, and an available hybrid powertrain.
Lexus furnished the LC for four, but the rear seats are more decorative than useful.
Power & Fuel Economy
The LC 500 sources its thrust from a 471-horsepower 5.0-liter V8. A 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters delivers engine production to the rear wheels.
The government estimates the LC 500 Coupe’s fuel economy at 16 miles per gallon in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg in combined driving. Opting for the drop-top doesn’t affect mileage much. It’s 15 mpg city/25 mpg highway/18 mpg combined.
Powering the LC 500h Coupe is a 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle V6 joined with a pair of electric motors. Here, the automatic transmission is a hybrid of sorts itself. Blending a couple of different automatic transmission technologies, the end effect is something like a 10-speed.
The mileage numbers for the LC 500h are 26 mpg city/34 mpg highway/29 mpg combined.

The 2022 Lexus LC 500 Coupe starts at $93,050.
Standard are 20-inch alloy wheels, triple-projector LED headlights, auto-dimming outboard mirrors with memory, and aluminum pedals.
Other content includes 10-way power-adjustable front seats, heated-ventilated front seats, an 8-inch driver information display, and an analog clock.
Also standard are a power-adjustable steering wheel, leather interior, and two USB ports.
The infotainment system is a 10.3-inch display with a touchpad, navigation, a 12-speaker audio system, and HD Radio. Satellite-radio capability, Wi-Fi capability, Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are also standard.
Lexus Safety System+ is standard. It includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, and lane-keep assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.
High-beam assist and adaptive cruise control are included, as well.
Lexus offers several option packages. For example, the All-Weather Package ($250) adds a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel and a windshield de-icer.
The Touring Package ($2,540) includes the All-Weather Package, Intuitive Parking Assist, a 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, and more.
Opt for the Sport Package ($2,360) to get 21-inch alloy wheels, 8-way power-adjustable front sport seats, a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, Intuitive Parking Assist, and more.
With the new Bespoke Build, you gain the Sport Package, the All-Weather Package, and a pick of wheel, rear-wing, roof, and exterior trim options.
