Nothing has changed for the 2022 Lexus RC from last year.
It remains a fine luxury sport coupe vying for attention in a group of highly competitive rivals like the BMW 4 Series, Infiniti Q60, and Audi A5.
We like its drop-dead gorgeous styling, available all-wheel drive (AWD), well-furnished cabin, and bullet-proof reliability.
Lexus offers the RC in five trim levels: RC 300, RC 300 AWD, RC 350, RC 350 AWD, and RC F.
Beyond engines, transmissions, horsepower, and torque, virtually nothing differentiates the first four grades from one another. Consequently, standard content is about the same.
A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine married to an 8-speed automatic transmission motivates the RWD RC 300.
Government-estimated fuel economy is 21 miles per gallon in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.
The RC 300 AWD, RC 350, and RC 350 AWD source their power from a 3.5-liter V6.
In the RC 300 AWD and RC 350 AWD, the V6 is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The RWD RC 350 gets the 8-speed tranny.
The estimated mileage for the AWD versions of the RC 300 and RC 350 is 19 mpg/26 mpg/22 mpg. For the RWD RC 350, it’s 20/28/23.
Filling the RC F with zoom is a 5.0-liter V8. The 8-speed automatic transmission transfers engine production to the rear wheels.
Mileage is an estimated 16 mpg/24 mpg/19 mpg.
If we were doing the choosing, we would go with the RC 300 AWD F Sport. Yes, it is $5,000 more than the RC 300. However, you get the V6, AWD, and all the toys packed into the F Sport bundle. In other words, it’s a bargain.
