For the most part, the 2022 Nissan Murano returns unchanged. One bit of news: Nissan now offers the SV grade with a Midnight Edition.
Originally touted as an ideal vehicle for empty nesters, the Murano remains a comfortable, roomy, 2-row transport.
The Murano makes a strong argument with its comfy seats, nicely furnished cabin, and an impressive array of standard driver aids.
Its last serious update was in 2015. Still enjoying wide appeal for those more interested in cruising down the highway than in attacking a series of switchbacks, the Murano soldiers on.
Arrayed against the Murano are competitors like the Dodge Durango, Honda Pilot, and Hyundai Santa Fe.
Nissan separates the Murano into four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is the default setup, but all-wheel drive (AWD) is a $1,700 upgrade on every trim.
A 260-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 lurks beneath the Murano’s hood. An automatic transmission translates engine output to wheel spin.
Although the government classifies the Murano as a station wagon, it more closely presents as a crossover SUV.
Its EPA fuel economy is 20 miles per gallon in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg in combined driving with FWD. Opting for AWD doesn’t alter those numbers.
2022 Nissan Murano S (starting at $32,910)
The 2022 Nissan Murano S starts at $32,910.
Nicely equipped, the S includes 18-inch alloy wheels and LED exterior lights (auto on-off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights.
Also standard are cloth seating, a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Cruise control, hill-start assist, four USB ports, Zero Gravity seats, and a 7-inch driver-information display are also included.
The infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, satellite-radio capability, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The driver aids are forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert with automatic rear braking are also included.
Besides AWD and upgraded exterior paint, Nissan doesn’t offer any factory-installed options for the S.

2022 Nissan Murano S includes:
- LED exterior lighting – This includes headlights with auto on-off, taillights, and daytime running lights (DRLs). LEDs illuminate a wider and longer area than regular incandescent lights. That means they are also easier for other drivers to see.
- Dual-zone automatic climate control – A set-it-and-forget-it system, it divides the vehicle into left and right regions. It provides separate temperature settings for each region. Once set, it automatically maintains the preset temperatures.
- Driver aids – A suite of features including automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
2022 Nissan Murano SV (starting at 36,450)
The 2022 Nissan Murano SV starts at 36,450.
The SV adds heated outboard mirrors, roof rails, LED fog lights, heated front seats, faux-leather seating, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Also included are a 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, and front-park assist.
For $1,395, you can add the Midnight Edition Package with 20-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, a black grille, and other assorted black exterior elements.

2022 Nissan Murano SV includes:
- Adaptive cruise control – Once you have engaged the system and set the speed, the system will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, braking and accelerating as needed.
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror – Using photosensors, it recognizes bright headlights closing from behind. It then automatically dims the reflection of those lights.
- Power-adjustable front seats – The driver’s seat is power-adjustable 10 ways, while the front-passenger seat offers 4-way power adjustment.

The 2022 Nissan Murano SL starts at $40,410.
The SL adds 20-inch alloy wheels to the SV, two-setting driver memory, leather seating, heated outboard rear-seat positions, and a Homelink transceiver.
Also included are an 11-speaker Bose audio system, navigation, voice recognition, surround-view camera, and a hands-free power liftgate.
Traffic Sign Assist is standard for SL, too.
You can add the Moonroof Package for $1,420.
