It’s a quiet year for the Tesla Model 3. We suspect any changes to the 2022 Model 3 will be handled by over-the-air software updates.
There are delays ordering some models. Consequently, you should be prepared to wait a while when ordering. At one point, there was a five-month hold on the Standard Range Plus trim level.
We like the Model 3 for its snappy styling, composed and quiet ride, impressive range, and affordable price.
Tesla offers the Model 3 in Standard Range Plus, Long Range, and Performance grades.
The Standard Range Plus has one motor to motivate its rear wheels. However, the two top trims are all-wheel drive (AWD) with two motors.
Located under the passenger floor, the lithium-ion battery pack improves Model 3’s center of gravity. It also plays a role in evening out weight distribution.
With a full-charge range of up to 272 miles, the Standard Range Plus grade can accelerate to 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 5.3 seconds. The top speed is 140 mph.
The 2022 Tesla Model 3 has plenty of get up for your go with an impressive 0-60 in 4.2 seconds!
The Long Range (358 miles) makes the zero-to-60 sprint in 4.2 seconds. Its top speed is 145 miles.
Claiming the title of quickest among the three trims, the Performance grade hits 60 mph in a blistering 3.1 seconds. Its range is 315 miles, and its top speed is 162 mph.
The government uses a different formula to estimate mileage for vehicles capable of operating on electric-only propulsion. The government calls it Miles Per Gallon equivalent (MPGe).
Applying this formula to the Standard Range Plus grade calculates the estimated mileage at 138 MPGe in the city, 126 MPGe highway, and 132 MPGe in combined driving.
For the Long Range trim, it works out to 134/126/131.
The Performance grade loses a fair amount of efficiency to power its quickness. Consequently, its estimated numbers are 118/107/113.
