Apart from paint colors and wheel designs, the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro returns unchanged. The Camaro’s mission has always been to plant Chevy’s flag in the muscle car arena. Although the heyday of the muscle era is long past, the Camaro isn’t without key rivals. For example, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger still prowl our streets.
We appreciate the Camaro’s go-cart-like handling, powerful engines, relatively affordable pricing, and chiseled good looks.
If there is a downside to the Camaro, Chevy doesn’t provide it with many advanced driver aids and safety technologies in the lower trims. You must work your way up to the 3LT to find those features.
Speaking of trims, “go big or go home” must be the mantra of the Camaro marketing wonks. Chevy offers the Camaro in eight flavors: 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1. All but the base 1LS grade come in coupe and convertible configurations. Chevy offers the 1LS as a coupe only.
The single available engine in the 1LS is a 275-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual transmission hustles torque to the rear wheels for every Camaro trim. An 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is a $1,495 upcharge in the 1LS.
Also standard in the 1/2/3LT versions, you can swap out the 2.0-liter turbo for a 335-hp 3.6-liter V6 for $1,595 in the 1LT and 2LT. Making the upgrade in the 3LT costs $1,545. A 10-speed automatic transmission in any LT version with the base engine will set you back $1,495. Upgrading to the 10-speed gearbox for the optional V6 costs $1,595.
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS (starting at $25,800)
Although the 1LS is the entry-level Camaro, it has several surprising features: proximity keyless entry with push-button start and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Also on the standard-equipment list are 18-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories (windows, door locks, and outboard mirrors), and a limited-slip differential. Driver Mode Select with Tour, Sport, Snow, and Ice settings, Tire Fill Alert, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped manual tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel appear, too. Manual air conditioning and a color driver-information display also are standard.
Covering your entertainment and connectivity needs is Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 interface. The system includes a 7-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. Wi-Fi hot spot capability, voice recognition, and OnStar telematics capability make the grade, as well.
Chevy arms the Camaro with government-mandated safety features like stability control and anti-lock brakes. The 1LS also provides Teen Driver, which allows a parent to program certain restrictions into the system for younger drivers.
Most of the options are either appearance packages or dealer-installed accessories.
The EPA rates the base 4-cylinder Camaro automatic at 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway/25 mpg combined.
Adding the $1,395 destination fee to the 1LS base price brings the total to an estimated $27,195. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to approximately $489 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS includes:
Tire Fill Alert – When inflating a tire, the system warns you by flashing the side-marker lights and sounding the horn when the tire reaches the proper air pressure.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – These allow your smartphone to interface with your vehicle. Not only can you access the music on your phone, but you can also send messages, receive messages, make calls, and so forth through your vehicle’s media system. It requires no cables to interface your device with your Camaro.
Proximity keyless entry – If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock when you touch the door handle. Push-button start pairs with keyless entry.
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT (coupe starting at $26,300, convertible at $32,300)
There’s not much pricing daylight between the 1LS and the 1LT. Nor is there much added content. You can find the significant difference in the options. The 1LS doesn’t have any options of consequence save the automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 1LT does, beginning with the more powerful V6 engine.
The 1LT picks up satellite radio capability and a 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat.
Otherwise, all the action is on the factory-options list. For example, there are more appearance packages than the 1LS offers. Furthermore, a $900 Technology Package includes an enhanced satellite-radio experience and a 9-speaker Bose audio system.
Adding the destination fee to the 1LT base price equals an estimated $27,695. At 3% interest for 60 months, financing with no money down works out to about $498 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT includes:
Power passenger seat – This 6-way-adjustable front passenger seat helps you find the most comfortable seating position.
Satellite radio – The 1LT is capable of receiving SiriusXM satellite radio. This feature requires a subscription. However, Chevrolet tosses in a free 12-month subscription with 1LT and higher trim levels.
Available Bose audio – This 9-speaker (7-speaker in the convertible) Bose-tuned audio system is available only via the Technology Package.
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT (coupe starting at $28,300, convertible at $34,300, estimated)
The $2,000 price difference between the 1LT and the 2LT gets you dual-zone automatic climate control, an outside temperature display, and heated/ventilated front seats.
The option package choices are about the same as for the 1LT.
Adding the destination fee to the 2LT coupe’s base price brings the total to an estimated $29,695. Financing for 60 months at 3% interest with no money down works out to about $534 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT includes:
Temperature-controlled front seats – You can heat or cool the front bucket seats.
Dual-zone automatic climate control – A set-and-forget system, it divides the vehicle into left and right regions, providing separate temperature settings for each. Once set, it automatically maintains the preset temperatures.
Ambient temperature display – It’s good to know the outside temperature.
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 3LT (coupe starts at $32,300, convertible at $38,300, estimated)
In addition to gaining the 1LT and 2LT Technology Package features, the 3LT adds an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and a head-up display. Other features include a digital rearview mirror, an 8-inch color configurable digital gauge cluster, and a heated steering wheel. Memory settings are also standard for the driver’s seat and outboard mirrors, heated outboard mirrors, and an auto-dimming driver’s side outboard mirror.
The 3LT is the first trim in which any advanced driver aids appear. They are forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist.
With the 3LT absorbing the Technology Package, all the remaining options are appearance packages.
Adding the $1,395 destination fee to the 3LT coupe’s base price totals an estimated $33,695. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to approximately $605 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 3LT models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 3LT includes:
Digital rearview mirror – The image from a rear-pointed camera appears in the rearview mirror. It presents a full display of what is behind the vehicle even if the rear window is blocked.
Head-up display – A projector on the dashboard displays critical driver information on the windshield just below the driver’s line of sight.
Bundle of driver aids – Included are forward-collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning, rear-park assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
2023 Chevrolet Camaro LT1 (coupe starts at $35,800, convertible at $41,800, estimated)
The LT1 signals the initial step to serious Camaro performance. Standard in the LT1 and SS grades is a 455-hp, 6.2-liter V8. It comes with a 6-speed manual or an optional 10-speed automatic transmission.
Other than the V8 engine upgrade, the LT1 content is more about what is lost than what it gains. Its standard content pretty much reverts to the 1LT. Gone are the advanced driver aids, Bose audio, dual-zone automatic climate control, and just about everything else the 2LT and 3LT add.
Chevy equips LT1 with 20-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, and Brembo brakes with increased stopping power.
The options list remains unchanged.
The EPA rates the 8-cylinder Camaro at 16 mpg city/24 mpg highway/19 mpg combined with the manual transmission and 13 mpg city/21 mpg highway/16 mpg combined with the automatic.
Adding the destination fee to the LT1 coupe’s base price totals an estimated $37,195. Financing for 60 months at 3% interest with no money down works out to a monthly payment of about $668. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro LT1 models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS (coupe starts at $39,300, convertible at $45,300, estimated)
Clawing back some of the features lost from the LT1, the 1SS adds the 8-inch touchscreen, the upgraded satellite-radio capability, and the 8-inch color configurable driver display. You also gain upgraded Brembo rear brakes, LED headlights, coolers for the transmission, engine, oil, and rear differential.
For $7,000, you can add the Track Performance Package. It comes with Recaro performance front seats, a rear spoiler, Magnetic Ride Control, and an even sportier suspension. A head-up display also joins the content, among other goodies. Many of the appearance packages optional on previous trims are still available.
Adding the destination fee to the 1SS coupe’s base price equals $40,695. At 3% interest, financing for 60 months with no money down works out to approximately $731 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS (coupe starts at $44,300, convertible at $50,300, estimated)
The Camaro 2SS returns nearly all the 3LT features, like the head-up display, Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, and advanced driver aids.
You can still add the Track Performance Package, and all the appearance packages are still available.
Adding the $1,395 destination fee to the 2SS coupe’s base price equals an estimated $45,695. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to about $821 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (coupe starts at $66,700, convertible at $72,700, estimated)
The ZL1 sources its thrust from a 650-hp, 6.2-liter supercharged V8. It provides the same transmission choices as the 2SS.
Also standard on the ZL1: sport alloy pedals, Recaro front seats, a suede-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, higher-performance Brembo brakes, and an electronic limited-slip differential. A dual exhaust, launch control, and Magnetic Ride Control are also standard.
Chevy offers the Extreme Track Performance Package ($7,500) with an even higher-performance-tuned suspension. Red brake calipers, 19-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, and more join the mix.
Expect 12 mpg city/20 mpg highway with the manual, and 13 mpg city/21 mpg highway with the automatic.
Adding the $1,395 destination fee to the ZL1 coupe’s base price brings the total to an estimated $68,095. Financing for 60 months at 3% interest with no money down works out to approximately $1,224 per month. See 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 models for sale
2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 includes:
Electronic limited-slip rear differential – Torque is sent automatically to the other rear wheel (the one with better grip) when one rear wheel is slipping.
Launch control – This electronic aid helps drivers get maximum acceleration from a standstill. It’s available only with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
Magnetic Ride Control – This adaptive suspension constantly monitors the road surface and makes damping changes in milliseconds.
