The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox is an affordable and practical choice in the competitive compact SUV segment. It competes primarily with the big names in this class like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, both of which have slightly higher starting prices than the Chevy.
The Equinox got a midcycle refresh in 2022, and the 2023 model adds a few extra perks. The Sport Edition and Midnight Edition appearance packages return to the options list, and the revamped 1.5-liter turbocharged engine makes 175 horsepower (5 more than the 2022 model). We expect EPA fuel economy to remain at 26 mpg city/31 mpg highway/28 mpg combined with front-wheel drive (FWD) or 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway/27 mpg combined with all-wheel drive (AWD).
Like most of its rivals, the Equinox has standard front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is optional on every trim.

2023 Chevrolet Equinox LS (starting at $26,300)
The base LS trim has some standard features that make it a good value. These include a 7-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hot spot capability, four USB ports, SiriusXM, Teen Driver mode, a driver information display, push-button start, active noise cancellation, automatic LED headlights, and the basics like air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows.
The standard Chevy Safety Assist safety tech suite bundles several driver assistance features, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision alert, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, a following-distance indicator, and automatic high beams.
There are a couple of desirable options available for the LS trim. One of our favorites is the LS Convenience Package, which adds a power driver’s seat with lumbar control, a multicolor driver information display, and deep-tinted rear glass. Available appearance packages include the Sport Edition and Midnight Edition, which return for 2023 after a brief hiatus.

Additional standard features include bright exterior trim, painted mirror caps, vanity mirrors, an overhead console, LED daytime running lights, and seat-release levers in the cargo area.
Option packages include a Driver Confidence II Package with parking sensors and a Driver Convenience Package with remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a power liftgate.
A new Safety and Infotainment Package upgrades the Equinox LT to an 8-inch infotainment system, a heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, a 360-degree camera, and adaptive cruise control.

The Chevy Equinox RS certainly has a sporty look. But don’t get too excited because it doesn’t come with performance upgrades.
However, it’s still worth a look if you like the idea of an SUV that’s sporty-looking yet practical and affordable. On top of the appearance package (which includes black wheels and a unique grille), you get parking sensors, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, heated front seats, LED taillights, and a roof rack.
Some of the options for the RS trim are the same as the ones on the LT trim, like a sunroof and the Safety and Infotainment Package. Additional options include the RS Leather Package, which adds perforated leather seating and a Bose premium audio system.

Additional standard features on the Equinox Premier include an 8-inch infotainment system, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a safety alert seat, a memory driver’s seat and mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 120-volt power outlet, an HD backup camera, a heated steering wheel, front fog lamps, a universal garage door opener, a wireless charging pad, and a hands-free power liftgate.
You can also add a few options. The Redline Edition adds a sporty appearance package while retaining the premium features of the Premier trim. An Infotainment II Package adds navigation and a Bose premium audio system. I wish this information was available when I ordered my 2023. i ordered the LT and added a sunroof. I really wanted fog lights but they couldn’t find the option anywhere. It wasn’t even listed on the ordering website as standard on the RS. He tried each trim to see if they would come up. B
