For jobs that require significant power and capability, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD gets the job done. Available as 2500 (3/4-ton) or 3500 (1-ton), the Silverado HD can’t quite match the Ram HD or Ford Super Duty for towing. But the Silverado HD (with diesel) can tow 36,000 pounds, which is within about 1,000 pounds of its rivals.
The Silverado HD offers rear-wheel drive (RWD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD), three cab sizes, two bed lengths, and, on 3500 models, the option of single or dual rear wheels. A pair of lucky sixes supplies power to the Silverado HD. Or, more precisely, you can choose between a 401-horsepower 6.6-liter gasoline V8 with 464 lb-ft of torque or a 445-hp Duramax diesel with a stump-pulling 910 lb-ft of torque. 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD WT

The WT is the most basic trim, with only a few frills and a cabin built for getting dirty. Chevrolet offers the WT with a gas or diesel engine, standard or long bed, and in three cabs: Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab.
On the 3500, all but the Crew Cab with the standard bed offer the option of dual rear wheels.
Standard on every Silverado HD is a trailer hitch with a 7-pin connector, a rear vision camera with hitch guidance, integrated bed steps, bumper corner steps, and an Eaton auto-locking rear differential.
The WT includes a heavy-duty suspension, 17-inch steel wheels, black bumpers, 12 fixed cargo tie-downs rated at 500 pounds per corner, black outside vertical trailering mirrors with lower convex mirrors, and a standard locking tailgate.
The WT cabin also is pretty simple, with manual windows, single-zone manual air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, 40/20/40-split vinyl bench seat, and rubberized flooring. The WT’s instrument cluster includes an analog speedometer and tachometer, oil pressure, engine temperature, volt, and fuel gauges. The cluster also features a monochromatic driver information screen.
Regular Cab models get a 2-speaker stereo; Double Cab and Crew Cab models have six speakers. The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system includes a 7-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Chevy’s HD trucks offer the same advanced driver assists as the half-ton Silverado 1500 — only they are optional, not standard. The WT offers forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.

2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD LT

The LT is the middle child in the Silverado HD family, offering many standard upgrades and even more optional equipment. Of the five trims, it’s probably the most versatile when it comes to customization. Like the WT, the LT comes in Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab configurations.
Building off the Custom, the LT adds chrome bumpers, an EZ Lift tailgate with power lock and release, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The LT’s cabin gains an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, SiriusXM satellite radio, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
LT buyers can add features beyond the optional equipment on the WT and Custom, including cloud-connected apps and services, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and leather bucket seats with a center console.

The LTZ features 18-inch alloy wheels, rear wheelhouse liners, chrome bumpers, a side bed step, heated adjustable trailering mirrors, remote start, and the EZ Lift tailgate. Also included is a 120-volt bed outlet and LED lighting for the headlights, taillights, and fog lights. The Advanced Trailering System and Hitch Guidance with Hitch View also come standard.
The LTZ includes a feature called Digital Variable Steering Assist that adjusts steering based on road conditions and speed, varying the effort needed to move the wheel.

The High Country includes four movable cargo bed tie-downs, a unique grille with chrome and bronze accents, 6-inch chrome assist steps, and bucket seats.
