The 2023 Lexus LS glides into showrooms with a couple of key updates. First, Lexus gives it an upgraded infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also includes a cloud-based navigation system and a “Hey, Lexus” personal assistant. We are happy to see the widely unpopular center-console-mounted Remote Touch trackpad is finally kaput as part of the infotainment makeover.
The second notable enhancement applies to the LS 500h hybrid (HEV). It gets the Advanced Drive System, a semi-autonomous driver-assistance technology that can pilot the LS under certain conditions.
Lexus offers the LS in three flavors: LS 500, LS 500 F Sport, and LS 500h. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard for the 500h and available as a $3,250 option on the 500 and 500 F Sport.
Calling a sedan with a starting price of $77,535 a bargain is a bit tough to swallow; however, in the world of big luxury sedans, the LS is a bargain. Scanning some of the closest rivals of the LS proves our point. The Audi A8, the BMW 7 Series, and even the budget-conscious Genesis G90 all have base prices at least $10,000 higher than the LS 500.
Although the LS 500’s 416-horsepower 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers impressive thrust, the LS 500 is more about creating an upscale environment and a cushy ride. It’s a highway cruiser more concerned with the quality of the experience than the thrill of the drive. A 10-speed automatic transmission transfers engine production to the rear or all four wheels.
We like the LS 500 for its comfort, roominess, up-to-date technology, and unwavering resale value.
2023 Lexus LS 500 ($77,535)
Lexus loaded the LS 500 with standard features to befit a rolling luxury palace. We think most drivers would be quite happy with the LS 500 instead of its more expensive F Sport or 500h versions, which probably explains why the LS 500 is the best-selling of the trio.
Standard are 19-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lights (auto on/off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights), and rain-sensing wipers. Also included are a hands-free power trunk lid, auto door closer, a power moonroof, and 16-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats.
Combatting glare at night are auto-dimming mirrors (rearview and outboard). Dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power rear sunshade are also standard. Included as well is proximity keyless entry with push-button start.
A round knob on the center console controls the Drive Mode Select. It influences throttle response, power output, steering response, suspension response, and climate control based on the mode you select.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen oversees the infotainment system, including a 12-speaker audio system, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. “Hey, Lexus” is a hands-free assistant for Bluetooth connectivity. The system also includes satellite radio and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
Among the safety and driver-aid technologies is forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. Also included are lane-departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also included. The Intuitive Parking Assist uses sensors to detect obstacles when parking; it will sound an alarm or even apply the brakes if needed.
Lexus offers several options packages that increase the luxury and comfort of the driver and passenger experience for both the LS 500 and LS 500 F Sport.
With the $1,150 destination fee already included in the base price, the 2023 Lexus LS 500 costs $77,535. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $1,393 per month. See 2023 Lexus LS 500 models for sale near you

Of a more substantive nature are bigger 15.7-inch front ventilated disc brakes with 6-piston calipers, an adaptive variable suspension, and 28-way power-adjustable front seats.

2023 Lexus LS 500h ($113,435)
A 3.5-liter V6 subsidized by two electric motors generates 354 horsepower for this hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).
Besides the HEV powertrain and some other features, Lexus equips the LS 500h much like the LS 500. However, there are some notable upgrades. These include a 23-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system, a surround-view camera, and the Advanced Drive System.
With the $1,150 delivery fee already included, the LS 500h costs $113,435. At 3% interest, financing for 60 months with no money down works out to about $2,038 per month. See 2023 Lexus LS 500h models for sale near you
2023 Lexus LS 500h includes:
Hybrid powertrain – A combination of a 3.5-liter V6 engine and two electric motors generates 354 combined hp. An automatic transmission ushers output to all four wheels. The EPA combined fuel economy of the 500h is 25 mpg.
Surround-view camera – This camera provides a 360-degree bird’s-eye view around the LS 500h. This feature is particularly valuable when parking.
Advanced Drive System – This semi-autonomous system allows the vehicle to accelerate, brake, and steer itself with driver supervision under certain conditions.
For the extra money it makes zero sense to buy the hybrid. You are never going to “earn” that money back. So stick with the standard LS500 (with a few upgrades of your liking) and you have a faster car too.
