2023 Lincoln Navigator: Choosing the Right Trim

The Lincoln Navigator is the flagship SUV for the American luxury brand. Now in its third generation, the Navigator competes directly with its crosstown rival, the Cadillac Escalade.

The Navigator has two wheelbase options (122.5 inches or 131.6). They both have generous interior space with 3-row seating, but the L models have even more room. If you expect tall passengers in the third row or need maximum cargo volume, you’ll want a Navigator L.

The sole engine option in the Navigator is an EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 rated at 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the rear (RWD) or all four wheels (4WD). This big SUV earns an EPA combined fuel economy rating of 19 mpg with RWD and 18 mpg with 4WD. That makes it more efficient than the V8-powered Escalade but less efficient than the Cadillac with the optional turbodiesel engine.

The Lincoln Navigator has three trim levels. Which one is right for you? It depends on your budget and your appetite for finer things. Let’s walk through the Navigator model range and find the luxury SUV that suits you.

2023 Lincoln Navigator Standard (starting at $77,635), Navigator L Standard ($80,630)

Don’t let the name “Standard” fool you; the base trim of the Navigator is very well-equipped.

An adaptive suspension system with road preview helps the Navigator glide over imperfections in the road. You can customize your drive with five modes; Conserve, Deep Conditions, Excite, Normal, and Slippery.

Lincoln sets the Standard with 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, running boards, a hands-free power liftgate, a chrome roof rack, and adaptive projector headlights. Inside, you’ll find soft-touch seats, heated and ventilated seats in the first and second rows, a memory driver’s seat, and power-folding third-row seats. The base 2023 Lincoln Navigator includes tri-zone automatic climate control, wood trim, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, remote start, and ambient interior lighting.

With the standard Sync 4 infotainment system, you get a 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also standard: SiriusXM, HD Radio, navigation, a wireless charging pad, and a Revel 14-speaker premium audio system.

The Lincoln Co-Pilot360 2.0 safety tech suite bundles a long list of safety tech features. In addition to full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and speed sign recognition, you get a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, plus forward and reverse automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Also included are intersection assist, lane-keep assist, evasive steering assist, a parking assist system, front, side, and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams.

The Navigator Standard model has a 90-day free trial of the ActiveGlide hands-free driving system. ActiveGlide allows for semi-autonomous driving with your hands off the steering wheel on highways mapped by Lincoln. If you want more than just the 90-day trial, you can add it as an option.

The Standard trim is available with a Navigator Plus Exterior Package with 22-inch wheels, illuminated power running boards, and a panoramic Vista Roof.

After a destination fee of $1,695, the starting price of the Navigator comes to $79,330. If you get a Navigator with a 60-month loan at 3% interest with no trade-in or down payment, the monthly payment will start at about $1,425 for the standard wheelbase and $1,479 for the L model. The Black Label trim sits at the top of the Navigator lineup, delivering the Lincoln brand’s most luxurious experience.

For starters, choose from one of four themes; Chalet, Yacht Club, Invitation, and Central Park. These are primarily aesthetic themes with different interior colors and materials. For example, the Yacht Club theme has Coastal Blue seats, and the Chalet theme has sueded cloth floor mats in Espresso.

Regardless of theme, the Black Label models share many standard luxury features. These include Venetian leather seating in all three rows, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with wood inserts, a body-color mesh grille, a winged leather front armrest, and a Dinamica sueded cloth headliner. They all have Lincoln Embrace interior lighting, a premium cargo mat, power-adjustable pedals, illuminated sill plates, and unique security approach lamps.

Another part of the Black Label experience is member privileges. Concierge services can arrange vehicle pickup and delivery for maintenance, deliver a mobile showroom experience, or perform complimentary car washes. Other amenities cover four years and 50,000 miles in an extended maintenance plan, bestow 70,000 Lincoln Access Rewards points, and even grant access to the Avis President’s Club when you travel.

It’s also worth noting that Black Label is the only Navigator that comes standard with 4-wheel drive.

An optional Black Label Special Edition Package adds stylish black accents. Beyond 22-inch black aluminum wheels, you get a black roof and roof rack, a black mesh grille insert, and black mirror caps.

The range-topping Lincoln Navigator Black Label trim starts at about $1,936/month for the standard wheelbase or $1,991/month for the L model if you get one with a 60-month loan at 3% interest and no money down.
