Returning with only one notable change, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe continues as a sportier-looking take on the GLC SUV.
Mercedes gave the GLC SUV a total redesign for 2023. Consequently, the unchanged GLC Coupe has been thrust into something more than a supporting role in the GLC SUV story. For now, at least, there is more separating them than just the coupe-like roof.
The sole enhancement for the 2023 GLC Coupe is the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which has been made standard. There is a bit of news for the AMG versions, too: The AMG GLC 63 Coupe has been discontinued, leaving only the AMG GLC 43 Coupe to bear the AMG banner for this model.
The odds are good that Mercedes has a redesigned GLC Coupe in the pipeline for 2024. We’ve seen some spy photos. In the meantime, the GLC will continue in 2023 as either the GLC 300 4Matic or the GLC 43 AMG.
All-wheel drive (4Matic in Mercedes speak) comes standard in both GLC Coupe models.
Some of the GLC’s primary competitors are the BMW X4, Audi Q5 Sportback, and the Infiniti QX55.
We like the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe for its coupe-like roofline, sassy attitude, boisterous engines, and classy interior.
2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic Coupe: $54,700
Percolating under the hood of the GLC 300 4Matic is a 255-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. A 9-speed automatic transmission hustles engine production to all the wheels. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 2023 GLC 300 4Matic Coupe is rated at 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway/22 mpg combined.
As you’d expect from the price, the GLC 300 Coupe comes nicely equipped. It features 19-inch alloy wheels, a driver-adjustable adaptive suspension, and a hands-free power rear liftgate. Also included are high-beam assist, Parking Damage Detection, a power sunroof, and proximity keyless entry with push-button start.
Helping bolster driver and passenger comfort are dual-zone automatic climate control, multi-adjustable heated power front seats, and natural wood interior accents. Outside are LED lights (auto on/off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights), heated windshield washers, and power-folding outboard mirrors. Rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and the aforementioned 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are standard, too.
The voice-activated “Hey, Mercedes” MBUX user experience, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and Bluetooth functionality anchor the infotainment system. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are part of the package as well.
Helping to keep you and yours safe are several advanced safety technologies. They include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Parktronic with Active Parking assist. It will help you find a suitable parking spot, then park the vehicle. A surround-view camera is standard, too.
Options
Mercedes offers several add-ons and option packages to enhance the GLC 300 Coupe further. For example, the Multimedia Package ($1,300) adds a navigation system, MBUX Augmented Video for Navigation, and speed-limit assist.
You can add a head-up display ($1,100), heated rear seats ($580), and upgrade to a Burmester surround-sound audio system ($850) as stand-alone options.

2023 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe: $68,200
AMG adds performance touches to traditional Mercedes vehicles. For the GLC 43 Coupe, that primarily means a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that sends 385 hp to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. EPA fuel economy for this AMG model is 17 mpg city/24 mpg highway/20 mpg combined.
AMG also has worked its magic on the transmission, adding several driver-selectable driving modes. Even the adaptive air suspension has also been modified by AMG for sportier handling.
Most of the GLC 300’s standard features repeat in the GLC 43. Enhancements include 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and a 115-volt power outlet.
Many of the GLC 300’s options carry over to the GLC 43.
