The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is a sportier version of the GLE SUV, featuring a sloped roofline to make it look more like a big coupe.
Like its SUV cousin, the GLE Coupe is a versatile SUV capable of accommodating five adults and towing up to 7,700 pounds. Unlike its cousin, the GLE Coupe has numerous AMG upgrades, making it both faster and more expensive.
Two models make up the 2023 GLE Coupe lineup: AMG GLE 53 and AMG GLE 63 S. Both feature AMG-tuned 4matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD), handcrafted AMG-tuned turbocharged engines, and significant upgrades to the transmission, suspension, brakes, and steering.

2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe: $81,200
Right out of the gate, the AMG GLE 53 impresses with its standard performance features. Power comes from an AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine good for 429 horsepower. The powertrain features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that helps improve off-the-line acceleration and fuel economy.
AMG applies its magic to the 4Matic+ AWD system, as well as the adaptive air suspension, adaptive damping shocks, steering, brakes, 9-speed transmission, and exhaust.
The AMG Dynamic Select system alters throttle response, gear changes, steering feel, and suspension firmness by choosing from one of the following modes: Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, or Trail and Sand.
The GLE 53 stands out with massive 21-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels and AMG exterior styling elements, including more oversized front air intakes and a vertical bar grille.
Standard features include rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic glass sunroof, a hands-free power liftgate, power-folding heated side mirrors with logo projection lights, and an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror. On the luxury front, the AMG GLE 53 wants for nothing. Its power-adjustable heated Sport front seats include 4-way power lumbar and 3-position memory, while the power tilt/telescoping AMG Performance steering wheel comes with touch controls.
Additional features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a 115-volt outlet, and 64-color ambient lighting.
Customers can upgrade from the standard MB-Tex upholstery to Nappa leather, which also adorns the dash and doors.
Two massive 12.3-inch glass panel displays merge to form the instrument cluster and media hub. The infotainment setup includes navigation with 3D maps, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, HD Radio, and a 6-month trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. You’ll find five USB-C charge ports scattered throughout the cabin, get one year of free MB navigation map updates, and have the option to upgrade with a Wi-Fi hot spot.
With so many choices for bringing along your favorite music, it seems only natural Mercedes-Benz equips the AMG GLE 53 with a sound system up to the task. In this case, it’s a 13-speaker, 590-watt Burmester Surround Sound featuring twin FrontBass subwoofers for mighty bass.
Mercedes offers several packages allowing for further customization. Beyond additional wheel, paint, and upholstery upgrades, buyers can opt for the Warmth and Comfort Package, which includes heated front armrests and rapid-heating front seats.
The Driver Assistance Package Plus brings adaptive cruise control with stop/go, lane-keeping assist, evasive steering assist, active blind-spot monitoring, speed limit detection, and front cross-traffic detection with braking. It also has lane-change assist, which can automatically change lanes once the driver activates the turn signal (adaptive cruise control must be engaged).
The Air Balance Package adds air purification and fragrance, while the Acoustic Comfort Package brings laminated side windows and windshield, additional interior sound insulation, and UV-protective door glass.
AMG Dynamic Plus Package adds high-performance brakes, AMG Active Ride Control with roll stabilization, an AMG Performance steering wheel, and Track Pace, which lets you store performance data obtained during a day at the track.
Standalone upgrades include ventilated and massaging front seats, heated rear seats, heated and cooled front cup holders, 4-zone automatic climate control, and an AMG head-up display. The navigation system also gets augmented video, which superimposes street names, addresses, and turn arrows over a real-time video view directly ahead.

Additional performance upgrades include Dynamic Engine Mounts that stiffen during aggressive cornering to decrease engine movement, an AMG electronic limited-slip rear differential, AMG Ride Control+, AMG Drive Unit, AMG high-performance exhaust, AMG high-performance brakes, an AMG Active Curve, which features electrohydraulic front and rear stabilizer bars.
The 63 S interior gains a black microfiber headliner, topstitched Nappa leather dash and door panels, an AMG Performance steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated and cooled cup holders, and Nappa leather upholstery.
