With the 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid, you get the best of both worlds: significantly better horsepower and torque, plus better fuel economy.
Its i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, featuring a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 with an electric motor mounted between the engine and transmission, produces 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. For comparison, the non-hybrid 2023 Toyota Tundra puts out 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.
In fuel economy, the difference isn’t quite as stark. A rear-wheel-drive (RWD) 2023 Toyota Tundra Limited Hybrid is rated by the EPA at 22 mpg city/24 mpg highway/22 mpg combined. The non-hybrid RWD Tundra Limited comes in at 18 mpg city/23 mpg highway/20 mpg combined.
All 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrids employ the 4-door CrewMax cab, the larger of the two available choices on the standard Tundra. Five people fit comfortably inside, and you get your choice of a 5.5- or a 6.5-foot bed. The 8.1-ft long bed available on the Tundra Double Cab is not offered on any Tundra Hybrid.
All 2023 Tundra Hybrids are well equipped because the trim configurations begin at the luxurious Limited trim level. This Tundra Hybrid Limited is followed in content and price by the Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone models. The TRD Pro and Capstone, notably, are available exclusively with 4-wheel drive (4WD) and the 5.5-foot bed.
While the standard 2023 Toyota Tundra has a respectable maximum towing capacity ranging from 8,300 pounds to 12,000 pounds, the Tundra Hybrid — fitted with a standard hitch receiver and a wiring harness with a 4-pin/7-pin connector — does similarly well. Its tow capacity ranges from 10,340 pounds (Capstone) to 11,450 pounds (RWD Limited).
In payload capacity, the standard Tundra ranges from 1,630 to 1,940 pounds. The Tundra Hybrid, due in part to the heavy battery beneath its bed, carries a bit less, ranging from 1,485 (Capstone) to 1,680 pounds (RWD Limited).
The most apparent competitor for the 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid is the 2023 Ford F-150, which is available with a PowerBoost hybrid powertrain that has 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. The Ford, for the record, can tow 12,700 pounds.

2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Limited: $54,915
The Limited may be the entry-level Tundra Hybrid, but it’s far from spartan. It’s a luxurious truck with a spacious interior featuring SofTex synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescope steering wheel, and front seats with heating, ventilation, and 8-way power adjustability. What’s more? The Limited gets automatic dual-zone automatic climate control and a 14-inch infotainment screen with a 9-speaker audio system, SiriusXM radio, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
On the safety front, the Tundra Limited Hybrid comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. In addition to pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, this thorough standard safety suite includes dynamic cruise control, a lane-departure alert (with steering assist), automatic high-beam headlights, and Road Sign Assist, which displays the posted speed limit on the instrument panel. Also standard: blind-spot monitoring (which works even if you’re towing a trailer) and rear cross-traffic alert.
Notable options on the Tundra Hybrid Limited include 4WD, rear air suspension, tow mirrors, and the TRD Off-Road Package. This includes TRD off-road suspension (with Bilstein shock absorbers), 20-inch TRD wheels, all-terrain tires, skid plates, a TRD grille, a TRD leather-covered shift knob, and mudguards.
Interestingly, the package also includes a power tilt/slide panoramic sunroof. You can get the TRD package on RWD or 4WD models, only the latter getting an electronic rear differential lock.
Other details we appreciate: five USB ports, heated power side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, and a secret pushbutton switch in the driver’s side taillight that lowers the damped tailgate automatically. We also like the sound-insulating windshield and power-sliding rear window, which lowers into the back wall of the cab any time you want lots of fresh air.
With its $1,795 delivery charge, the Texas-built 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Limited costs $56,710. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $1,019. See 2023 Toyota Hybrid Limited models for sale near you

These features complement a panoramic view monitor, a digital rearview mirror, rear sunshades, and ambient interior lighting.

- 12.3-inch digital instrument panel – A large digital instrument panel joins the Tundra Hybrid lineup at the Platinum level. Keep track of your speed, engine rpm, fuel economy, and even turbocharger boost.
- Heated and ventilated seats – Many luxurious vehicles have heated and ventilated seats — in front. But the Tundra Hybrid Platinum has heat and ventilation in both rows.
- Panoramic View Monitor – Standard on the Platinum, the PVM gives the Tundra Hybrid driver a 360-degree view of the immediate surroundings around the Tundra, greatly improving driveway and parking lot safety.
2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition: $63,705
With unique paint, saddle brown interior leather, and beautifully inlaid American walnut trim, the 1794 Edition is a welcome twist on the Tundra Hybrid Platinum.
Other notable standard features on the 1794 Edition include heated power mirrors in chromed housings, plus a panoramic view monitor and LED turn signals.
Like the Platinum, the 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition is available with power running boards and the Advanced Package, which includes rear air suspension and adaptive shock absorber damping.
What’s behind the 1794 name? It’s the year Juan Ignacio de Casanova of Spain founded a ranch in Texas on the site where the Toyota Tundra is currently built.
With the $1,795 delivery charge, the 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition costs $65,500. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $1,177. See 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid 1794 Edition models for sale near you
2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro: $69,420
If you plan to do any serious off-roading in your 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid, get the TRD Pro.
Available exclusively as a Tundra Hybrid and equipped with an advanced 4WD system featuring an electronically locking rear differential, the Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro is built to go off-roading.
To that end, the TRD Pro has Multi-Terrain Select (selectable drive modes), Crawl Control (a super slow version of off-road cruise control), and TRD Pro off-road suspension, which includes a 1.1-inch front lift and large 2.5-inch Fox Internal Bypass shock absorbers. The TRD Pro Tundra Hybrid also has 18-inch forged aluminum BBS wheels with P285/65R-18 all-terrain tires.
For underbody protection, the TRD Pro has an aluminum front skid plate and Xply Armor covers for the engine, fuel tank, and transfer case. Xply, in case you were wondering, is a durable material made of fiber-reinforced resin.
Also standard in the TRD Pro is Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Monitor. By pushing a button, you can display the front, rear, and side camera views on the Tundra Hybrid’s navigation screen, greatly improving your positional awareness on the trail.
Options? Apart from extended-length tow mirrors ($290), there’s not much else.
With the $1,795 delivery charge, the 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro costs $71,215. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $1,280. See 2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro models for sale near you
2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid TRD Pro includes:
- Multi-Terrain Select – Depending on the off-road conditions, drivers can choose Mud, Sand, Rock, or Auto driving modes to get the best possible performance from their new Tundra Hybrid.
- Crawl Control – This technology helps you smoothly tackle rugged terrain. On challenging slow-speed trails, Crawl Control automatically modulates the throttle and brakes so you can focus on the proper driving line.
- TRD Pro SofTex-trimmed seats – The TRD Pro seats, covered in a durable SofTex fabric with contrast stitching, have “technical camo” inserts.
2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Capstone: $76,145
The Capstone is aptly named; it’s the top 2023 Toyota Tundra you can buy. It’s the type of truck you’d see driven by a millionaire rancher on “Yellowstone.” As such, it’s an ultra-luxurious model fitted exclusively with the powerful hybrid powertrain, 4WD, and the shorter 5.5-foot bed.
How do you identify a Capstone? On the outside, look for the 22-inch alloy wheels with a dark chrome finish, complemented by a color-keyed grille, power running boards, and premium LED headlights with chrome trim.
Inside, the Capstone spoils its occupants with semi-aniline leather seats, which are heated front and rear and offer 10-way power adjustability in front. In addition to plush model-specific floor mats, the Capstone features a large panoramic sunroof (with a power sunshade) and ambient interior lighting.
Another unique Capstone feature is overlooked but greatly appreciated: special acoustic side glass in the front doors makes this top Tundra remarkably quiet inside, an ideal place to enjoy your favorite tunes on the 12-speaker JBL sound system.
As a Tundra Platinum model even more lavishly equipped by Toyota, the Capstone further benefits from a Panoramic View Monitor, a 10-inch head-up display, and a handy Trailer Backup Guide that helps you place a trailer exactly where you want it to go.
Available Capstone options include the Advanced Package, which includes load-leveling rear air suspension and adaptive suspension damping. Tow mirrors are only $290, and we think the optional Wind Chill Pearl Paint ($425) looks exceptionally sharp against the black-and-white coloring of the Capstone’s semi-aniline leather interior.
With the $1,795 delivery charge, the 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone costs $78,210. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $1,405. See 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone models for sale near you
2023 Toyota Tundra Hybrid Capstone includes:
- Trailer Backup Guide – While backing up with a trailer attached, this standard system handles all the necessary steering inputs, ensuring that the trailer reaches its proper spot.
- Acoustic side glass – The Capstone’s front door glass is extra thick to help keep the loud world at bay. It’s noticeably quieter inside the Capstone.
- Semi-aniline interior leather – While the standard leather in the Tundra Hybrid Platinum impresses, the semi-aniline leather in the Capstone takes the luxury to a new level.
