2023 Volvo S60: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2023 Volvo S60 is a premium small sedan with lots of appeal. It offers something a little different from more mainstream offerings in European luxury cars like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The S60 prioritizes luxury and safety over performance, but this is still a pretty engaging car to drive. As you might expect from the Volvo brand, the S60 has excellent safety ratings (an IIHS Top Safety Pick+) and has some of the most comfortable seats in this class.

Power and Mileage

The Volvo S60 has two powertrain offerings: the B5 mild-hybrid turbocharged 4-cylinder and the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain with a supercharged and turbocharged 4-cylinder engine also mated to an electric motor.

The B5 engine produces 247 horsepower and returns up to 30 combined mpg with front-wheel drive (FWD) and 28 mpg with all-wheel drive (AWD). The T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain makes 455 horsepower, returns 74 MPGe (or 31 mpg with no charge in the hybrid battery), and gets up to 41 miles of electric range.

The Core, Plus, and Ultimate trims are available with either powertrain, but the Polestar Engineered model comes exclusively as a plug-in hybrid. FWD is standard and all-wheel drive is optional with the B5 powertrain. All T8 models have AWD.

Let’s take a closer look at the four distinct trims of the Volvo S60 and find the one that’s right for you.
