2024 BMW X4 xDrive30i: $55,000
The base BMW X4 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features are numerous. Highlights include 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, a power liftgate, satin aluminum line exterior trim, auto-dimming mirrors, a panoramic moonroof, SensaTec faux leather upholstery, power front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. You also get a universal garage door opener, a Live Cockpit Professional digital gauge cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM.
Standard safety features in the X4 include parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and Active Driving Assistant.
In typical BMW fashion, there are several option packages and individual options. Our favorite? The Driving Assistance Professional Package ($1,700) adds Extended Traffic Jam Assistant and Active Driving Assistant Pro. That system bundles full-speed adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping assistant, traffic jam assistant, evasion aid, and front cross-traffic alert.
If you like the sporty look of the X4, it’s enhanced by the available M Sport Package ($1,900). This adds a sporty appearance package, M wheels, an M steering wheel, and Shadowline exterior trim while unlocking more wheels and interior trim options. Additionally, you can add a Shadowline Package ($400) to the M Sport Package, which adds extended Shadowline trim and M Shadowline lights.
The M Sport Package gives the X4 a sportier look, but the Dynamic Handling Package ($1,200) is more substantive, giving it Dynamic Damper Control and M Sport brakes with your choice of blue or red calipers. However, if you want the Dynamic Handling Package, you must also opt for the M Sport Package.
A Convenience Package ($700) adds passive keyless entry and lumbar support; a Parking Assistance Package ($700) adds a surround-view camera; and the Parking Assistant Plus autonomous parking system; and the Premium Package ($2,100) adds the contents of the Convenience Package plus heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a head-up display. You can add heated rear seats to the Premium Package for an extra $500 and Vernasca leather upholstery for $1,500.
Individual options include premium paint ($650-$1,500), remote start ($300), ventilated front seats ($500), a Harman Kardon audio system ($875), a wireless charging pad ($500), a head-up display ($1,100) and much more.

The letter “M” in BMW parlance indicates performance, which you get in spades with the X4 M40i. Under the hood lies a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine producing 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to the engine upgrade, the M40i comes standard with the contents of the M Sport Package, Dynamic Handling Package, and Convenience Package available for the xDrive30i trim. These performance upgrades give it the agile handling of a sports sedan.
The M40i also has some unique options you can’t get on the base trim. These include an M Sport differential ($1,300), carbon-fiber interior trim ($300), and some unique wheel options ($600-$1,550).
Besides that, the M40i has the same standard and optional features as the X4 xDrive30i.

Additional standard features in the X4 M include Dynamic Damper Control, an M Sport differential, 20-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, heated front seats, carbon-fiber interior trim, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system.
The available Competition Package ($7,000) boosts the output to 503 horsepower and adds an M Sport exhaust system, 21-inch M wheels, M Sport seats and seat belts, extended Shadowline trim, and extended Merino leather upholstery.
An Executive Package ($2,250) adds a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, a head-up display, gesture control for the infotainment system, and the Parking Assistant Plus autonomous parking feature. The Driving Assistance Professional Package is still optional for $1,700.
