2024 BMW X1 xDrive28i: $40,500
The base xDrive28i powertrain consists of a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a 7-speed automatic transmission, and AWD. This version of the X1 produces 241 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which gives it a zero-to-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds. With EPA fuel economy ratings of 25 mpg city/34 mpg highway/28 mpg combined, the X1 xDrive28i strikes a satisfying balance of performance and efficiency.
Standard features in the X1 include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, Satin Aluminum exterior trim, roof rails, a power liftgate, perforated Veganza faux leather upholstery, a memory driver’s seat and mirrors, multi-color ambient interior lighting, an Anthracite headliner, a SensaTec dashboard, and multi-zone automatic climate control.
The high-tech BMW Curved Display houses a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.7-inch central display. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay make it easy to connect your phone to the screen in this SUV. Also, SiriusXM comes standard.
The standard Active Driving Assistant bundles safety features like frontal collision warning, active blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning, and speed limit info. Other standard safety features include front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing wipers.
Several option packages make the X1 xDrive28i sportier and more luxurious. The Convenience Package ($1,950) adds a panoramic sunroof, Comfort Access keyless entry, auto-dimming mirrors, a wireless charging pad, and a BMW Digital Key Plus. The pricier Premium Package ($4,100) adds the contents of the Convenience Package plus a universal garage door opener, an interior camera, Parking Assistant Plus, a head-up display, Live Cockpit Pro with a head-up display and augmented reality, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a surround-view camera. A Technology Package ($3,300) is similar to the Premium Package but doesn’t have the Harman Kardon audio or interior camera.
One of our favorite option packages is the Driving Assistance Professional Package ($1,700), which adds full-speed adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping assistance with side-collision avoidance, and traffic jam assistance.
If you’re interested in a BMW because of its engaging driving experience, you’ll want the M Sport Package ($2,000). In addition to a sporty appearance package, it adds an Adaptive M suspension system, paddle shifters, sport seats, Aluminum Hexacube interior trim, and an M steering wheel. An available M Sport Professional Package ($800) further adds M Sport brakes, extended Shadowline exterior trim, and a rear spoiler.
In typical BMW fashion, a long list of individual options can be added to your X1. In addition to remote start ($300) and 19-inch wheels ($600) or 20-inch wheels ($1,350), you can get a universal garage door opener ($200), a trailer hitch ($600), sport seats ($400), Harman Kardon audio ($600), and heated front seats/steering wheel ($550).

That gives this SUV a zero-to-60-mph time of 5.2 seconds. Additionally, it comes standard with the contents of the M Sport package. The EPA reports the M35’s fuel economy at 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway/26 mpg combined.
Additional standard features include M Sport brakes with blue calipers, Comfort Access keyless entry, auto-dimming mirrors, parking sensors, Harman Kardon audio, wireless charging, and BMW Digital Key Plus.
A Shadowline Package ($500) is available for the M35i, adding M Shadowline headlights and extended Shadowline trim. The M Sport Professional Package ($1,100) on the M35i trim adds M Sport front seats in addition to the extra black trim, and you can further add M Compound brakes for an additional $700.
The Premium Package is still available but only costs $2,800 since several of its contents are already standard. The Driving Assistance Professional Package ($1,700) also remains optional.
