The midsize 2024 Cadillac CT5 sedan brings American luxury and performance to a field filled with foreign rivals. As Lincoln is out of the car business and the aging Chrysler 300 is no more, Cadillac’s only competition comes from cars like the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Acura TLX, and Lexus ES.
Working in Cadillac’s favor is its wide range of trims and powertrain options, features that make the CT5 appealing to a broad buyer spectrum. Price is another perk, with the entry-level CT5 undercutting its rivals by thousands of dollars.
The CT5 is a rear-drive car offering the option of all-wheel drive (AWD) on all but the Blackwing trim. Buyers have the option of a fuel-efficient 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in the base Luxury and Sport trims, a twin-turbocharged V6 in the Premium Luxury and CT5-V, and a 668-horsepower supercharged V8 in the CT5-V Blackwing.

2024 Cadillac CT5 Luxury: $38,395 (RWD), $40,395 (AWD)
The first of five CT5 trims is the Luxury. The Luxury appeals to buyers who prefer opulence to performance. I say this because, with its 237-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, performance is acceptable but not stellar.
However, for the money, the CT5 Luxury is a tremendous bargain. Cadillac’s combined Driver Awareness safety suites come standard, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic detection, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and a following distance indicator.
Other safety features include full airbag coverage, a Safety Alert (vibrating) driver’s seat, LED reflective windshield collision alert, Teen Driver, an HD rear backup camera, and rear seat reminder that prompts the driver to check the back seat for kids or pets before exiting.
A quick walk around the CT5’s exterior reveals automatic on/off LED headlights, power-heated side mirrors, 18-inch bright silver alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing wipers.
The Luxury trim also features LED taillights, self-sealing all-season tires, and acoustic lamination for the windshield and front side glass.
Keyless Access permits unlocking and starting the car without removing the key fob from your purse or pocket. The fob also enables remote start from as far away as 200 feet.
Amenities include simulated leathery upholstery, a 12-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support, an 8-way power passenger seat with 2-way power lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, and dual digital driver information displays separated by an analog speedometer and tachometer.
The Luxury trim features cruise control, a leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel with paddle shifters, a wireless phone charging pad, one-touch express up/down power windows, and push-button start.
The Luxury infotainment system comprises a 10-inch touchscreen operated by touch or via a rotary dial on the console. The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L satellite radio, HD Radio, natural voice recognition, and Bluetooth.
Also included are personalized driver information profiles, Cadillac connected vehicle services, a Wi-Fi hot spot, OnStar, and three USB ports. A 9-speaker premium audio system also comes standard.
Options for the Luxury include a 15-speaker Bose audio upgrade, navigation, a dual-pane sunroof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and several exterior styling and wheel packages.

The Cadillac CT5 Premium Luxury trim opens the door to a more powerful engine option and more luxury and technology upgrades. The available 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 pumps out an impressive 335 hp, making this version of the CT5 far more competitive against its European rivals. The trade-off from the base engine is gas mileage, which drops by about 5 mpg when comparing the EPA combined fuel economy ratings.
Building off the Luxury trim’s features, the Premium Luxury adds leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, illuminated door handles, 2-person driver’s seat memory, 14-way power front seats with 4-way power lumbar support, and a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
Additional safety features include automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking (can detect vehicles further away), and rear automatic emergency braking.
Auto-dimming outside mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, and wood or metallic trim round out the upgrades.
Options beyond those offered on the Luxury trim include Super Cruise semiautonomous driving, which allows hands-free driving on specific highways throughout North America.
Luxury Premium buyers can also opt for a 15-speaker Bose audio system, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a Surround Vision camera, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, power-folding side mirrors, and a rear camera mirror. Also available is a motion-activated decklid, a Surround Vision recorder, a rear pedestrian alert, and an automatic parking assistant.

Visually, the Sport stands apart from the Luxury trim with darkened exterior trim, a body-color rear spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels, 18-way power sport bucket seats with adjustable thigh cushions and side bolsters, and a thick-rim steering wheel.
Available performance upgrades include Brembo front disc brakes, a limited-slip differential, FE3 performance suspension, and Cadillac’s Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers (some equipment not available with AWD).

The Blackwing has a hand-built supercharged 6.2-liter V8 churning out an eye-popping 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, but a 10-speed automatic is an option. So powerful is this engine it produces a top speed in excess of 200 mph and a sprint to 60 mph in a scant 3.4 seconds.
Most CT5-V options are standard on the Blackwing when equipped with an automatic transmission. Go with the manual, and you’ll lose adaptive cruise control, adaptive remote start, rotary infotainment controller, reverse automatic emergency braking, parking brake hold, and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The CT5-V Blackwing gets an advanced security package that includes an interior motion sensor, a steering column lock, and an inclination sensor. It also comes with a 16-speaker AKG premium sound system, automatic seatbelt tightening, a high-performance steering wheel, and 18-way heated and ventilated sport seats with power lumbar massage.
Exterior upgrades include a front splitter, LED cornering lights, high-performance summer tires, a rear differential cooler, a performance exhaust, and launch control with a line lock feature.
