The 2024 Cadillac XT4 is a subcompact luxury SUV promising high-tech features and luxury at a competitive price. Up against rivals like the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, and Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Caddy offers more interior room but still takes a backseat regarding performance and handling.
Cadillac offers the XT4 in three trims: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. Each has its unique identity and features but can be further customized with a generous menu of options and packages.
Regardless of trim, every XT4 derives power from a 235-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) comes standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) optional.
New for 2024, the XT4 gets revised exterior styling and a fresh new interior highlighted by a massive 33-inch diagonal screen housing the instrument cluster and infotainment station.

The XT4 Luxury emphasizes value. It’s less well-equipped than the other XT4 trims but still feels upscale while keeping the price well below the $40,000 mark.
The XT4 Luxury comes standard with Cadillac’s Smart System suite of driver assists. The package includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with steering assist, rear cross-traffic detection, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Also onboard is a following distance indicator to help prevent tailgating, plus a second-row seatbelt indicator to remind rear seat passengers to buckle up. You also get a safety alert seat that vibrates to warn of a potential collision and Teen Driver, which can be used to limit certain features, such as speed and radio volume. Teen Driver can even produce a report card on your teen’s driving habits.
The XT4 Luxury rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels and features acoustic laminated front side and windshield glass, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, auto on/off LED headlights, heated power side mirrors, rear parking sensors, an HD rear vision camera, and a power liftgate.
Keyless Access passive entry allows unlocking the doors and starting the vehicle simply by having the key fob on you. Adaptive Remote Start allows starting the car while outside the vehicle and automatically setting the climate controls to warm or cool the interior.
The Luxury gets synthetic Inteluxe upholstered seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat and a 6-way power passenger seat, both with 2-way power lumbar support, a manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat.
Luxury amenities include cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear seat air vents, ambient interior accent lighting, one-touch up/down power front windows, one-touch down rear windows, and Active Noise Cancelation that uses the audio system’s speakers to generate noise-canceling sound waves.
The 33-inch diagonal view screen contains a configurable instrument cluster and an infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google built-in, SiriusXM 360L, voice command, personalized driver profiles, and a 7-speaker audio system. A touchscreen allows easy operation of the infotainment features, which can also be accessed via a rotary knob controller on the center console.
The infotainment system supports subscription-based features such as OnStar, Cadillac connected apps, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
The XT4 features one USB-A and one USB-C port in the front console, two USB-C charge ports for the back seat passengers, and three 12-volt outlets, including one in the cargo bay.
The Cold Weather Package is optional, adding heat to the seats and steering wheel.
A Trailering Package adds a heavy-duty cooling system, a 2-inch receiver, and a wiring connector.
Standalone options include leather upholstery, a 13-speaker AKG audio system, and a dual-pane power sunroof that brings along brushed aluminum roof rails.

Building off the Luxury trim, the Premium Luxury adds Active Aero grille shutters, illuminated door handles, a hands-free power liftgate, power-folding side mirrors with auto-dimming driver’s mirror, brushed aluminum roof rails, and rain-sensing wipers.
Additional luxury amenities include 2-position driver’s seat memory presets, leather upholstery, and driver and passenger seat 4-way power lumbar support.
While these added features may not feel very Premium, the available option packages make the Premium Luxury trim worth having.
Buyers can add the Active Safety Package, which includes adaptive cruise control, enhanced lane-keeping assist, speed limit assist, an HD 360-degree monitor, and traffic sign recognition. Also included are rear pedestrian and side bicyclist alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and intersection automatic emergency braking that can detect traffic approaching from the side at an intersection and brake before a collision can occur.
The Comfort and Convenience Package adds ventilated and massaging front seats and an 8-way power passenger seat.
The Technology Package brings a head-up display, a rear camera mirror with lens washer, wireless phone charging, and a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel.

The Sport gains a high-gloss black mesh grille, gloss-black roof rails, gloss-black exterior trim, and unique 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Sport includes most Premium Luxury features, including the hands-free power liftgate, Active Aero Shutters (deleted when ordering the Trailering Package), power-folding side mirrors with auto-dimming driver’s mirror, and rain-sensing wipers.
The Sport gets the same Inteluxe upholstery as the Luxury, with the option to upgrade to leather when ordering the Comfort and Convenience package.
Unique to the Sport is an Active Sport Suspension with adaptive shock absorbers.
