A luxurious midsize SUV with two rows of seating, the Cadillac XT5 motors into 2024 with minimal changes. It continues to be sized between the compact XT4 and the larger 3-row XT6. Although the attractively priced 2024 Cadillac XT5 isn’t the sportiest SUV in its class, it impresses us with its comfortable ride, abundant features, and its choice of a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder engine. Notable rivals for this midsize Cadillac SUV include the Lexus RX, Lincoln Nautilus, Genesis GV80, and Acura MDX.
Like in 2023, the Cadillac XT5 will be sold in three trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. A 2.0-liter inline-4 with 237 horsepower powers the XT5 Luxury and XT5 Premium Luxury. The XT5 Premium Luxury also can be ordered with a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 310 hp. The V6 is standard in the XT5 Sport, which comes exclusively with an adaptive sport suspension and all-wheel drive (AWD).
Regardless of engine choice, one transmission is available in the 2024 XT5 — a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic. Let’s take a closer look at each of these Cadillac SUVs.

What’s New
For 2024, Cadillac has made minimal changes to its XT5. Three colors have been discontinued (Latte Metallic, Rosewood Metallic, Wilder Metallic), while two have been added (Emerald Lake Metallic and Midnight Sky Metallic, both at an extra charge).
Also, monochrome accent packages in blue, bronze, and red are now available on the XT5 Sport, highlighted by gloss-black wheels and body decals in the respective colors. The XT5 Premium Luxury also gets new 20-inch alloy wheels with split spokes and a polished finish.

2024 Cadillac XT5 Luxury: $43,895
Powered exclusively by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and a healthy 258 lb-ft of torque at only 1,500 rpm, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 feels reasonably peppy, aided by a responsive 9-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive, which we recommend for areas with foul weather, costs an extra $2,000.
We expect the 2024 Cadillac XT5 Luxury to be rated by the EPA at 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway/24 mpg combined in FWD configuration. If you get AWD, those numbers will drop to 21 mpg city/27 mpg highway/23 mpg combined.
What do we like about the XT5 Luxury? It’s not too large but is quite roomy in the back, and we find its infotainment system easy to use, even if the 8-inch diagonal touchscreen is a touch small by 2024 standards. What’s more, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is much appreciated, as is front and rear Park Assist, the Wi-Fi hot spot, Amazon Alexa built-in, SiriusXM satellite radio, and four USB ports.
Other welcome standard comfort and convenience features include Cadillac’s Inteluxe faux-leather upholstery, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, and the heated, power-adjustable front seats. Cadillac Smart System, the standard safety suite, provides automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
Among the available options on the 2024 XT5 are the Onyx appearance package and niceties like 20-inch wheels, plus other stand-alone items like premium carpet, black molded splash guards, and a rear cargo shade.
The Onyx Package, for the record, gives the XT5 an abundant dose of gloss-black. The 20-inch alloy wheels, the grille, the bodyside molding, and the front and rear fasciae are all blacked out.
Note: Adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic assist, two safety technologies we wholeheartedly endorse, are unavailable on the XT5 Luxury.

2024 Cadillac XT5 Luxury includes:
- Roomy cabin – The 5-seat XT5 has excellent interior space, with the 60/40-split folding rear bench offering particularly good leg room.
- Capless Fuel Fill – Are traditional screw-on gas caps a thing of the past? Not sure, but you sure get used to this handy arrangement very quickly.
- AWD – This twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system, aided by yaw control, is tuned for excellent vehicle control in sporty driving.
2024 Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury: $50,195
Is the XT5 Premium Luxury worth an extra $6,300? Yes.
Simply put, the XT5 Premium Luxury adds a wealth of standard and available features. Added luxury is addressed with leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and other features such as a 14-speaker Bose audio system, navigation, a dual-panel sunroof, and a hands-free power liftgate. Added safety comes courtesy of standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert with pedestrian detection.
The Premium Luxury trim level also gives the XT5 shopper a choice between the turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine or an optional 3.6-liter V6. With 310 hp, the V6 makes the XT5 feel quite zippy, with power routing to the front (or all four) wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
With the V6, we expect the 2024 Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury to be rated by the EPA at 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway/21 mpg combined. With AWD, the fuel economy numbers are 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway/21 mpg combined.
Available options on the XT5 Premium Luxury include the Driver Assist Package, which features adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking.
The Platinum Package — with its semi-aniline leather upholstery, leather-wrapped instrument panel, sueded microfiber headliner, and a sport suspension with active damping — makes this XT5 even more of a premium vehicle. The same is true of the Technology Package, which includes an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, a head-up display, a 360-degree overhead camera view, and a rear camera mirror.

2024 Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury includes:
- Leather upholstery – Nothing is more effective at imbuing a vehicle with a luxury feel than supple leather upholstery.
- Available V6 – The 3.6-liter V6, a $2,000 option, is a good choice if you often have all five of the XT5’s seats filled.

2024 Cadillac XT5 Sport: $56,795
The XT5 Sport secures its spot at the top of the lineup with a standard V6 and AWD.
But that’s not all. The XT5 Sport also gets a performance suspension with active damping, plus other enhancements like sportier final-drive gearing (3.49:1) and large 6-piston Brembo front brakes with red calipers easily visible behind nickel-finish 20-inch alloy wheels. In addition to body-color door handles, you’ll see gloss-black exterior trim on the XT5’s grille, roof rack, and side windows.
The XT5 Sport is equipped much like the XT5 Premium Luxury, so it’s no surprise to learn that it’s also available with the Platinum Package, Driver Assistance Package, and Technology Package. Also available to the XT5 Sport buyer are a digital camera mirror and a thermal Night Vision camera, which are also available on the XT5 Premium Luxury.
New this year on the 2024 Cadillac XT5 Sport are cosmetic accent packages in blue, bronze, and red. These $2,995 packages feature 20-inch gloss-black wheels, monochromatic Cadillac emblems, and wheel center caps and body decals in the respective color.
