The 2024 Chevrolet Malibu is the only sedan produced by the General Motors division. It’s a midsize offering competing with cars like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima. While not as sporty or sophisticated as its rivals, the Malibu offers a lot of features for the money, excellent fuel economy, and a strong history of reliability.
Chevrolet offers the Malibu in four trims: LS, RS, 1LT, and 2LT. A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 168 horsepower is the only engine option, and while its performance isn’t earthshaking, it does provide enough power to get around confidently.

The Driver Confidence Package is made standard, while lane change alert, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert are optional. The LS gains body-color side mirrors, and a tire inflator is now standard. A 16-inch compact spare tire is optional.
Our Recommendation:
Although it’s the most expensive trim, the Chevrolet Malibu 2LT is the best choice. It offers several luxury upgrades and opens the door to additional driver-aids, most importantly adaptive cruise control.

2024 Chevrolet Malibu LS: $25,100
The base LS is a comfortable sedan that can easily accommodate five passengers, although four is a more realistic figure. Its feature set covers all the basics and then goes a bit further, adding more standard driver assists this year to help sweeten the deal.
The combined contents of the Chevy Safety Assist Package and the Driver Confidence Package bring forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam headlights.
The LS features a system that reminds the driver to check the back seat before exiting the vehicle, another that prevents the car from being shifted out of park until the driver buckles up, and a third to help your teen learn better driving habits.
The LS’s clean exterior looks sharp, even in base form. It includes automatic on/off halogen headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, an acoustic laminated windshield, and a rear backup camera.
Keyless Open allows unlocking the doors without removing the key fob from your purse or pocket. It also includes a remote start feature. Once inside, a push of a button is all that’s needed to start the car.
