The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 arrives with subtle improvements but remains essentially unchanged. For the Chevy faithful, that means a broad range of trims, engines, and configurations ranging from the workhorse WT to the dressed-to-impress High Country.
Chevrolet makes it easy for buyers of all budgets to find a vehicle to fit their needs, with no less than seven distinct trims (eight if you count the Trail Boss upgrade). And while the Silverado lacks a hybrid powertrain, it does offer a torque-happy diesel option.
The Silverado does pretty well against the Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan, and Ram 1500. Along with its twin, the GMC Sierra 1500, the Silverado offers impressive towing and payload numbers, although still slightly behind the Ford F-150, but better than the Ram, Toyota, and Nissan.

What’s New:
Chevrolet now offers the Duramax diesel with the ZR2. The 6.2-liter V8 gains an active exhaust and Sport mode, while the 2.7-liter 4-cylinder turbo gets a new name: TurboMax.
The available Safety Package adds front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control is now standard on the High Country, and the WT adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Some popular appearance packages get added to more trims, and new exterior colors include Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Slate Gray Metallic.
Our Recommendation:
The LT is the most versatile Silverado trim for all-around features, options, powertrain choices, and price. However, if luxury is essential, the LTZ and High Country deserve a good look. The off-road enthusiast will want a Trail Boss or an off-road-ready ZR2.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 WT: $36,800
In the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 WT (Work Truck), buyers will find a no-nonsense pickup designed for hard work and dirty jobs. The WT is the only Silverado trim offering a Regular Cab, which comes with a standard or long bed (another WT exclusive). There’s also a Double Cab standard bed or Crew Cab with a standard or short bed option.
Power for the WT comes from a potent 310-hp 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Though it only has four pistons, the engine’s 430 lb-ft of torque bests some small V8s, including Chevy’s 5.3-liter V8, which is optional in the WT.
If you want 4-wheel drive (4WD), it is optional across the full Silverado range.
While the Silverado WT may be a workhorse, it isn’t all brawn with no brains. Advanced driver aids include standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Following Distance Indicator that alerts when driving too close to the car ahead.
Additional safety features include automatic high-beam headlights, a system to remind the driver to check the rear seat for children or pets, and another that lets the driver know when rear seat passengers have not buckled up.
Teen Driver comes standard and produces a report card detailing your teen’s driving habits. The system lets parents limit certain features, like audio volume and top speed.
WT buyers can opt for additional driver assistance through the WT Safety Package, which includes a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and chrome bumpers.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado Custom trim includes heated side mirrors, the EZ Lift tailgate, an upgraded suspension, body-colored bumpers, cruise control, and cloth seats. Also in the mix are a rear window defroster, 20-inch alloy wheels, LED cargo bed lights, a trailering package, and a remote start.

A dramatically improved interior sets apart the LT. It includes more features, an available V8 or diesel engine, and even a 6.2-liter gas V8 when ordering the LT Trail Boss package.
Now, about that interior. The LT’s dash differs entirely from the one in the WT and Custom trucks. It includes a large 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster living side-by-side with an even larger 13.4-inch color infotainment touchscreen. Among this system’s many features is Google built-in, which brings Google Play, Maps, and Assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.

The LT offers nearly as many options as standard features, most bundled into packages. Among the more desirable alternatives are those in the Safety Package that adds an HD Surround Vision camera, inside rear trailer camera input, rear emergency braking with pedestrian detection, front and rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor that covers a trailer in tow, and perimeter lighting.
Depending on their needs, buyers can choose between a power tailgate or a 6-function Multi-Flex tailgate.

Building off the standard and optional feature set from the LTZ, the High Country adds a few unique upgrades, such as adaptive cruise control, hitch guidance with Hitch View, dual exhaust, 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and a camera for observing the truck bed.
The High Country also gets a spray-in bedliner, chrome exhaust tips, and heated rear seats.

Where the High Country is the most luxurious Silverado 1500, the ZR2 is the most off-road capable. In a direct challenge to the Ram TRX and Ford F-150 Raptor, the ZR2 pushes the limits of what a full-size half-ton Chevy truck can do.
Equipped with the 6.2-liter V8, unique springs and Multimatic spool-valve shock absorbers, and a 2-speed transfer case, the ZR2 is more than off-road ready. Front and rear e-locker differentials provide more control in low-speed off-road situations, while hill descent control helps reduce brake pedal use on steep inclines.
When things get hairy, the ZR2’s Terrain Mode with one-pedal rock crawling comes in handy, as do standard 18-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires and a 31.8-degree approach angle.
