The Traverse has long been the go-to SUV for growing families needing maximum passenger and cargo space. For 2024, Chevrolet reimagines the Traverse with an all-new body and interior, a new engine, and more safety and tech upgrades, including GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assistant.
This year, the Traverse has fewer trims, reduced to just four: LS, LT, RS, and the new off-road-capable Z71. All derive power from a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 328 horsepower, which is then routed to the Traverse’s front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive remains an option on all but the Z71, where it’s standard.
The new Traverse should have no issues tackling tough competitors like the Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, and Ford Explorer. However, unlike the Toyota Grand Highlander, Chevrolet doesn’t offer a hybrid engine option, something many families look to for improved fuel economy.

What’s New:
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is new from the ground up. It has more standard safety features, a new turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, and a longer standard equipment list. The new Traverse retains its reputation as a spacious family hauler, claiming a best-in-class max cargo capacity of 98 cubic feet (with both rows folded flat).
A rugged new Z71 model joins the Traverse lineup, boasting an additional inch of ground clearance, an off-road suspension, upgraded AWD, and all-terrain tires.
Our Recommendation:
The LT offers the most bang for your buck of the four Chevy Traverse trims. The new Z71 is the logical choice for families who like to stray far from the beaten path.

2024 Chevrolet Traverse LS: $37,600 (FWD), $39,600 (AWD)
For 2024, Chevrolet has remade the Traverse. In doing so, it has created a more feature-rich base model at a price most families can stomach. The LS represents an excellent value for those needing a roomy interior and healthy standard safety equipment list but don’t mind going without the latest tech and luxury equipment.
The LS offers seating for eight, with a roomy cargo area behind the third-row seat. Regarding safety equipment, the LS goes above and beyond, adding an impressive list of driver-assistance systems that are often optional or unavailable to most competitors.
The standard Driver Confidence Package includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a follow-distance indicator that warns when driving too close to the vehicle ahead.
The list includes automatic high-beam headlights, lane change alert with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic detection, reverse automatic braking, rear pedestrian crossing alert, side bicyclist alert, rear parking sensors, and intersection automatic braking. There’s also a safety alert seat that vibrates to warn of danger, traffic sign recognition, an HD Surround Vision camera, and adaptive cruise control.
A quick tour around the LS exterior reveals power heated side mirrors, automatic on/off LED headlights, rear privacy glass, a hands-free power liftgate, a rear camera washer, 18-inch machined-face alloy wheels, and Keyless Open that allows you to unlock or lock the doors or open the liftgate without removing the key fob from your purse or pocket.
Moving to the LS interior reveals even more surprises. The seating is what you might expect: manually adjustable front seats and manually folding second and third rows. However, you might be surprised to find those same front seats are heated, as is the steering wheel. There’s tri-zone automatic climate control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, one-touch-down power windows, and a push-button starter.
From the driver’s seat, an expansive digital display houses an 11-inch driver information center (instrument cluster) and a 17.7-inch high-contrast color touchscreen. The LS infotainment features include Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, personalized profiles, natural voice recognition, connected apps, and navigation capability. SiriusXM 360L, OnStar, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a 6-speaker audio system wrap up the LS infotainment system.
There are six USB ports throughout the cabin, with one Type-A and one Type-C in the front console, two Type-A at the rear of the center console (serving the second row), and two Type-C at the outboard positions.
There are few factory options for the Traverse LS, but the one that catches our eye is the Midnight/Sport Edition, which brings gloss-black 20-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, a black grille, gloss black upper and lower belt moldings, and black bowtie badges.
There’s also a Special Ride and Handling suspension package for a firmer ride and better handling.

Extensive driver-assists – The LS’s long list of standard driver assists puts competitors to shame, with features like reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view monitor all standard.
Hands-free power liftgate – Approach the vehicle’s rear with the remote key fob on your person, and the gate will automatically open.
Heated steering wheel – Another unexpected feature at this price point, the heated steering wheel means you won’t have to wear gloves when driving in cold weather conditions.
2024 Chevrolet Traverse LT: $40,000 (FWD), $42,000 (AWD)
The LT adds a few more features that make it the best bargain of the four trims. Building off the LS’s ample standard equipment, the LT adds an 8-way power driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar support, 7-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs, a 120-volt outlet, express up/down power windows, a wireless phone charging pad, speed limit assist, and black roof rails.
The LT opens the door to more option packages, such as the Enhanced Driving Package that includes Super Cruise hands-free driving assistant, a driver attention monitor, and an automatic parking assistant. The package also brings a 10-speaker Bose audio system that makes any trip more enjoyable.
Other options include 8-passenger seating, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a Trailering Package with Hitch View and Hitch Guidance technology, a heavy-duty cooling system, and 20-inch dark gray alloy wheels.

The Z71 takes the Traverse places it’s never been before, namely off-road. Building off the LT, the Z71 adds an off-road suspension with an additional one-inch lift, an advanced twin-clutch AWD system, and unique shock absorbers with hydraulic rebound to improve off-road capability.
The Z71 includes underbody skid plate protection, 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, hill descent control, a trailering package, and additional terrain modes within the driver-selectable modes.
Included with the Z71 are the Trailer Package and gloss black roof rails.
Options for the Z71 mirror those of the LT, including the Enhanced Driving Package, power sunroof, and Bose audio upgrade.

The RS brings a 6-way power passenger seat with 4-way power lumbar support, a power-folding third-row seat, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, animation for the LED headlights, power-folding side mirrors, and 22-inch alloy wheels.
Rounding out the RS features are rain-sensing wipers (with a heated resting position), the Bose audio system, and one-touch folding second-row captain’s chair seating.
