The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning continues to raise the bar for electric pickup trucks. It incorporates a full-size pickup body with an electric powertrain and Ford’s best technology features.
According to EPA estimates, the F-150 Lightning can travel up to 240 miles using its standard battery pack and 320 with the upgraded extended-range battery. The larger battery pack also bumps horsepower and torque and increases max towing to 10,000 pounds (requires the Max Trailer Tow Package), making it the right choice for those pulling heavy loads.
All F-150 Lightning models come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) courtesy of a dual electric motor setup. The only configuration is a crew cab with a 5.5-foot bed.
Ford offers the Lightning in five trims: Pro, XLT, Flash, Lariat, and Platinum. The Pro and XLT have the standard battery pack, while the Flash, Lariat, and Platinum all have a larger extended-range battery pack.
Other options in the electric pickup pool include the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Hummer EV Pickup, and Rivian R1T.
F-150 Lightning models with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of less than $80,000 will qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit.
What’s New:
A new tech-rich Flash trim joins the F-150 Lightning stable, bringing more standard equipment and the extended-range battery pack. The top-line Platinum gains a Black Package option. This upgrade features a matte-black wrap, 22-inch black wheels, and a black leather interior and is limited to just 2,000 units. For 2024, there are no battery upgrades within the trims, at least for retail customers. Fleet purchases may differ.
Our Recommendation:
The Flash offers a nice mix of features, affordability, and range and qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit.
These are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) and include the $2,095 factory-to-dealer delivery fee (destination charge). Prices are current at the time of publishing.
