2024 Ford Transit: Choosing the Right Trim

The Ford Transit is a leader in the competitive class of commercial vans. With a wide variety of configurations, including a cargo van, a passenger van, a cutaway, and a chassis cab, there’s a Transit for just about any business. You can get one as an overlanding rig with the Transit Trail or an EV with the E-Transit. With so many configurations, powertrains, and options available, the Ford Transit has the most variety in its model range of any full-size van.

The Ford Transit competes with commercial vans like the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ram ProMaster. The Chevy Express and GMC Savana are also available, but those truck-like vans are a bit antiquated compared to the Transit.

Prices are current at the time of publishing.

What’s New:

The medium-roof, regular-wheelbase Transit has been discontinued. If you want the medium roof height, it’s only available with the long, 148-inch wheelbase. The EcoBoost turbo V6 is no longer available on low- and medium-roof cargo vans with rear-wheel drive.

Also, a 253-degree rear door is now standard on the long-wheelbase vans, and cruise control is standard on every Transit.

Our Recommendation:

Any recommendation for a commercial van depends entirely on your specific needs. However, if you need a passenger van, we recommend upgrading to the XLT trim, which adds many excellent features at a modest bump in price.

An available EcoBoost V6 ($2,495) turns the output up to 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.

The Transit Cargo Van is available in two wheelbases and three roof heights. You can get it as the Transit 150, Transit 250, or Transit 350, with the higher number bringing a beefier chassis with a higher Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR).
