The 2024 GMC Canyon is more than just a rebadged Chevy Colorado. It has a distinct personality, with several packages to create a more upscale vibe and even more aimed at the off-road enthusiast.
Fresh off a complete redesign last year, the Canyon is well-positioned to challenge the Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier, and the class-leader Toyota Tacoma.
Unlike its full-size older sibling, the Sierra, the GMC Canyon offers only one cab size (Crew Cab) and one engine choice: a turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder making a healthy 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
GMC offers the Canyon in four distinct trims, each with a specific audience in mind. Let’s take a look and see which is right for you.

What’s New:
A new AEV Edition joins the AT4X option sheet. This extreme off-roader brings 17-inch beadlock-capable AEV wheels, AEV skid plates, AEV stamped-steel bumpers, wheel flares, and a bed-mounted vertical spare tire.
Elevation and AT4 trims get a new 11-inch driver information center, while the available Blind-Zone Steering Assist now includes the ability to monitor for vehicles near a trailer in tow.
Our Recommendation:
The 2024 GMC Canyon Elevation is the best value for buyers seeking an affordable and capable truck. Those with off-road intentions should gravitate toward the AT4X.

2024 GMC Canyon Elevation: $36,600 (2WD), $39,300 (4WD)
The base Elevation model is the only trim in the Canyon lineup that comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD). Four-wheel drive is optional. When equipped with 4WD, this midsize pickup truck has Normal, Off-Road, Terrain, and Tow/Haul drive modes.
Don’t let the fact that this is the base trim fool you: The Canyon Elevation is well-equipped. Standard features include 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, a rear bumper corner step, auto on/off LED headlights with fade off/fade on projection, power mirrors, a locking rear tailgate, and front recovery hooks.
A factory off-road suspension with a 2-inch lift comes standard even on rear-wheel drive models.
Keyless Open and Start uses a proximity key fob to alert the vehicle to your presence. With the fob in your purse or pocket, you need only touch the door handle to unlock the truck and push a button to start it.
The Elevation cabin is equally feature-rich, including power windows (driver express up/down, all others express down only), power door locks, manual air conditioning with rear vents, manually adjustable front bucket seats, cruise control, rear 60/40-split folding bench with storage, and a tilt steering wheel.
Some surprising features at this price include an 11-inch digital driver information center, an HD backup camera with Hitch View, Teen Driver mode, and an Off-Road Performance Display.
The Elevation’s infotainment system consists of an 11.3-inch touchscreen hosting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google built-in, SiriusXM 360L (subscription required), advanced voice recognition, and a 6-speaker AM/FM radio.
The standard Canyon Pro Safety suite of driver assistance features includes a forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection.
There are a couple of desirable option packages available for the Elevation. The Canyon Safety Plus Package ($445) adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailering, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Technology Package ($950) further adds rear pedestrian alert, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.
A Convenience Package ($1,670) adds vanity mirrors, an electric rear window defogger, LED fog lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, 120-volt outlets (one in the bed, one in the cabin), remote start, an auto-dimming mirror, heated side mirrors, a rear sliding window, a tilt/telescoping steering column, extra USB ports, and an EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate.
Additional equipment available in other packages includes power front seats, heated front seats, a spray-in bedliner, and numerous dealer-installed add-ons.
When you add the $1,595 destination fee, the starting price of the 2024 GMC Canyon Elevation comes to $37,595. Assuming a 60-month loan at 5% interest with $0 down, the Canyon has a starting monthly payment of $709. See 2024 GMC Canyon Elevation models for sale near you
