2024 Honda Odyssey: Choosing the Right Trim

For families needing something more versatile than a large SUV, the 2024 Honda Odyssey minivan makes an excellent choice. Its vast interior and sliding side doors make loading kids, pets, and cargo a snap, and its powerful V6 engine is responsive and fuel efficient.

Unlike other Honda models, the Odyssey doesn’t have a budget-oriented LX trim. It starts with the EX and EX-L, then moves to the Sport, Touring, and Elite trims, offering more content and safety features at higher prices.

The Odyssey’s resale and reliability rankings are the envy of the industry, rivaled only by the Toyota Sienna. This minivan offers two things unavailable with the Odyssey: a hybrid powertrain and the option of all-wheel drive. The Chrysler Pacifica also offers a hybrid engine and AWD but lacks the Odyssey’s impressive resale figures.

The Kia Carnival is another option. It offers many of the same features and options as the Odyssey, costs significantly less, and comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

2024 Honda Odyssey EX: $37,840

The well-equipped Odyssey EX is all most families need in a minivan. The one feature not offered here that might be required is a power liftgate, which you can get by moving to the EX-L trim. Otherwise, the EX is a fine choice.

Its standard safety equipment includes front, front side-impact, driver and front passenger knee, and full-length side curtain airbags.

Except for parking sensors, the entire Honda Sensing suite of driver aids is standard on the EX. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, road-departure warning with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Also included are rear cross-traffic detection, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, and a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.

From the outside, the EX looks upscale. It features handsome 18-inch alloy wheels, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, auto on/off LED headlights, power heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, power-sliding side doors, and a rear roof spoiler.

Fog lights come standard, as does a proximity remote keyless entry with walk-away auto lock. With this system, you only need the fob in your possession to unlock the doors by touching the handle. Tapping a button on the handle locks the door, or you can set the system to lock the vehicle automatically once you walk away.

Moving to the interior, we find cloth upholstery covering all three rows. A 12-way power driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar support complements a 4-way power passenger seat, and both are heated.

The EX second-row seat is divided into a 40/20/40 configuration, with the ability to remove the center section easily. Doing so creates a set of captain’s chairs with a passageway to the 60/40-split third-row seat. Honda’s Magic Slide system allows the second-row seats to move sideways, where they can be pushed together, creating a mini bench seat with third-row access on either side. Fully utilized, the EX offers seating for up to eight people.

Interior amenities include auto up/down front and second-row power windows, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control with second-row controls, and integrated second-row sunshades. Also onboard are numerous cup holders, a conversation mirror with a sunglass holder, two 12-volt outlets, and two front console USB ports (one charge and one data/charge).

The EX’s infotainment setup consists of an 8-inch color touchscreen and a 160-watt 7-speaker audio system with a subwoofer. The system includes hands-free Bluetooth phone and music streaming, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, and SMS text message function.

HondaLink Basic and Link smartphone connectivity come standard, allowing access to vehicle guides, service appointments, roadside assistance, and recall notifications.

Honda’s marketing strategy doesn’t include factory-installed options. You must step up in trim level to gain additional features.

Adding the $1,375 destination fee to the EX base price costs $39,215. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to $740 per month. See 2024 Honda Odyssey EX models for sale near you

2024 Honda Odyssey EX includes:

  • Tri-zone automatic climate control – Separating the vehicle into three areas (front right, front left, and rear) allows for setting the temperatures in each. It then automatically maintains those preset temperatures.
  • Proximity keyless entry – If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock when you touch the door handle. Push-button start is paired with keyless entry.
  • Power side doors – With the push of a button, the sliding side doors electronically open.

2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L: $40,910

The EX-L builds on the EX, adding a power moonroof, a power rear liftgate with programable height, memory for the driver’s seat and outboard mirrors, tilt-down-in-reverse side mirrors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Also standard is a HomeLink transceiver, fancier 18-inch wheels, an acoustic glass windshield, two second-row USB charge ports, a third-row 12-volt outlet, and leather front and second-row seats.

Adding the $1,375 destination fee to the EX-L base price costs $42,285. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to $798 per month. See 2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L models for sale near you

2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L includes:

  • Tilt-down mirrors – When the transmission gets placed in reverse, the side mirrors tilt down to give the driver a clear view of the curb and surrounding areas near the rear wheels.
  • Power rear liftgate – Opening with a button press, this liftgate includes a programable height adjustment.

2024 Honda Odyssey Sport: $41,860

Slotting between the EX-L and Touring grades, the Sport trim costs $950 more than the EX-L. You can order it in Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, or Sonic Gray Pearl. Blacked-out elements include the 19-inch wheels, taillights, headlight and fog-light trim, outboard mirrors, etc.

The Sport’s interior gains red ambient lighting, red stitching on the steering wheel and leather seats, and black upholstery and floor mats.

Adding the $1,375 destination fee to the Sport base price costs $43,235. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to $816 per month. See 2024 Honda Odyssey Sport models for sale near you

2024 Honda Odyssey Touring: $45,100

The Touring grade leapfrogs the Sport trim, increasing the EX-L’s standard equipment and adding items such as 19-inch alloy wheels and front and rear parking assist. Also included is a third-row USB port, a rear-seat entertainment system with a 10.2-inch monitor, an HDMI interface, and headphones.

A 115-volt power outlet, navigation, the CabinWatch Rear Seat Monitor, third-row sunshades, and Wi-Fi hot spot capability are also added. The CabinTalk in-car PA system is included but only works when rear-seat passengers wear headphones.

HondaLink subscription services expand to include remote control via phone apps (think start and climate settings), security services, and concierge.

Adding the $1,375 destination fee to the Touring base price costs $46,475. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to $877 per month. See 2024 Honda Odyssey Touring models for sale near you

2024 Honda Odyssey Touring includes:

  • Front/rear park assist – Radar sensors in the front and rear bumpers react when the vehicle comes close to an object, initiating an audible warning.
  • Rear-seat entertainment system – Keeping rear-seat passengers entertained is a Blu-Ray player with a 10.2-inch monitor, built-in streaming apps, and an HDMI interface.
  • CabinWatch – This rear-seat monitoring system displays the second- and third-row seat areas on the touchscreen. Great for keeping an eye on a sleeping baby.

2024 Honda Odyssey Elite: $49,970

The ultimate Odyssey grade, the Elite adds rain-sensing wipers, power-folding auto-dimming outboard mirrors, a hands-free power rear liftgate, a heated steering wheel, and heated/ventilated front seats. An upgraded 500-watt, 11-speaker sound system, Multi-Zone Audio, and wireless phone charging are also included.

The Elite gains more acoustic glass in its front and rear doors, and blue is the color for the ambient interior lighting and instrument panel. The CabinTalk in-car PA system utilizes both headphones and the car’s speakers.

Adding the $1,375 destination fee to the Elite base price brings the total to $51,345. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to $969 per month. See 2024 Honda Odyssey Elite models for sale near you

2024 Honda Odyssey Elite includes:

  • Rain-sensing wipers – Sensors in the windshield automatically engage the wipers when detecting moisture. The wiper speed adjusts according to the volume of rain.
  • Hands-free power liftgate – With the key fob on your person, stick your foot under the rear bumper. The liftgate automatically opens.
  • Multi-Zone Audio – This system lets you select which speakers get sound, enabling you to cut the sound to a specific row of seats. It’s most useful when the front passengers want to listen to music without disturbing sleeping rear-seat passengers.
