2024 Honda Prologue: Choosing the Right Trim

Honda dips its toe into the electrified vehicle pond, teaming up with GM to build its first EV SUV, the 2024 Prologue. Although it shares its battery and electric motor technology with the Chevrolet Blazer EV, the rest of the vehicle is pure Honda.

The front-drive Prologue can travel up to 296 miles on a charge, while all-wheel drive (AWD) versions range from 273 miles to 281. Honda offers the Prologue in three trims: EX, Touring, and Elite. EX and Touring trims are pulled by their front wheels and provide the option for AWD, which is standard on the Elite.

Like the Honda Passport, the 5-passenger Prologue provides plenty of room for people and cargo. Yet, its modest size makes maneuvering in crowded city confines easy.

Vying for your electric dollar are rivals like the Kia EV6, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Tesla Model Y, and Volkswagen ID.4.

What’s New:

The 2024 Honda Prologue is an all-new model and Honda’s first foray into the EV SUV world.

Our Recommendation:

The EX offers the best value of the three trims, although if you want things like a premium audio system and panoramic moonroof, we’d upgrade to the Touring trim. Adding all-wheel drive improves traction and performance, but it comes at the expense of range. We’d opt not to go with AWD unless you live someplace where snow and slippery road conditions are a regular occurrence.

These are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) and include the $1,395 factory-to-dealer delivery fee (destination charge). Prices are current at the time of publishing.

2024 Honda Prologue EX: $48,795 (FWD); $51,795 (AWD)

in Honda world, the EX is usually the midlevel offering. But, with the Prologue, Honda makes the EX the entry-level model, meaning that out-the-door, the Prologue comes nicely equipped.

The goodness starts with Honda’s commitment to driver and passenger safety wrapped up in the Honda Sensing driver-assist suite. The bundle includes forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering assist, rear cross-traffic detection with braking, lane-change alert, and reverse automatic braking.

Additional features include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition technology, rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam headlights.

A quick walk around the EX’s exterior reveals 19-inch alloy wheels, power-heated side mirrors, rear privacy glass, and LED headlights, turn signals, taillights, and daytime running lights. The EX’s key fob activates the proximity keyless remote entry function and remote start.

The EX cabin features cloth upholstery, a 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, heated front seats, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with regen paddles.

Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a wireless charging pad, an 11-inch digital driver display, auto up/down power front windows, auto-down rear windows, and overhead map lights.

The EX infotainment system comprises an 11.3-inch touchscreen with a volume knob, a 6-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, Google built-in, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HondaLink services, and four USB-C charge ports (two in front and two in the rear).

On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the 2024 Honda Prologue EX monthly payment starts at $921. See 2024 Honda Prologue EX models for sale near you

2024 Honda Prologue EX includes:

Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto – No messy wires or USB adapters are needed. Sync your phone with the Prologue’s infotainment system and wirelessly stream music, messages, and maps from your phone.

Heated front seats – A nice feature to keep occupants warm on cold winter days (and nights).

Honda Sensing – A complete suite of advanced driver assists help keep everyone onboard safe.

2024 Honda Prologue Touring: $53,095 (FWD); $56,095 (AWD)

The Touring adds more luxury and convenience features to the EX standard equipment list but also about $5,000 to the bottom line.

Moving to the Touring trim brings front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, a panoramic moonroof, roof rails, and a hands-free power liftgate.

The cabin adds a 12-speaker Bose audio system, leather upholstery on the seats and steering wheel, 2-position driver’s seat memory, a 6-way power passenger seat, instrument panel illumination, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the 2024 Honda Prologue Touring monthly payment starts at $1,002. See 2024 Honda Prologue Touring models for sale near you

2024 Honda Prologue Elite: $59,295

The Elite comes fully loaded and includes the dual-motor all-wheel drive system as standard. Due to its larger 21-inch wheels and tires, the range drops from 281 miles to 273.

Building on the Touring trim, the Elite adds a Sport driving mode, heated wiper zones, side mirror welcome lighting, self-sealing tires, and a key card.

The Elite interior features a head-up display, a 110-volt outlet, a surround-view monitor, rear pedestrian detection, heated and ventilated front seats, and illumination for the footwells, cup holders, and door panels.
