2024 Hyundai Elantra: Choosing the Right Trim

Hyundai prides itself on offering affordable cars and SUVs with features and styling that punch well above their weight. Such is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra, a roomy and stylish small sedan with an economical price and a robust trim lineup.

Every bit the equal of the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, and Volkswagen Jetta (and in some areas, superior), the Elantra impresses with three powertrain choices, a host of innovative technology, an upscale interior, and one of the best standard warranties in the industry.

A hybrid Elantra model delivers exceptional fuel economy (reviewed separately).

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra offers something for every buyer with the economical SE, nicely-equipped SEL, sporty N Line, luxurious Limited, and track-ready N.

The SE, SEL, and Limited employ a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that sips gas while returning decent power for passing and merging. The N Line operates a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, developing 201 hp, while the track-inspired Elantra N uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces a tire-smoking 276 hp.

A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard on the SE, SEL, and Limited. The N Line gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the N has a 6-speed manual or optional 8-speed dual-clutch automatic.

2024 Hyundai Elantra SE: $21,475

The SE is ideal for people who want comfort, safety, and good fuel economy in an economically priced sedan that won’t stretch the budget.

Hyundai packs the SE trim with several standard driver-assist systems, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The SE features automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, safe-exit warning, and driver attention warning.

This year, rear side-impact airbags join the standard equipment list, accompanying front and side-curtain airbags. Other new safety upgrades include a rear seatbelt reminder and a vibrating haptic steering wheel that works with the blind-zone alert, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The SE rolls on 15-inch alloy wheels, an upgrade from most base cars’ plastic wheel covers. The SE also touts auto on/off LED headlights, remote keyless entry, power side mirrors, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and heat-reflecting solar glass.

The SE cabin has cloth upholstery covering manually adjustable front seats with manual driver’s seat height control. The rear seat features a single-piece fold backrest with fixed headrests.

Interior amenities include single-zone manual air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and illuminated power window switches with a driver’s one-touch auto-down function.

The SE’s audio and infotainment systems feature an 8-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker AM/FM/HD Radio stereo, a rear backup camera, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are three USB-C charge ports and one front-console USB charge/data port.

Hyundai doesn’t offer any factory-installed options for the SE.

Adding the $1,115 destination fee to the SE base price brings the total to $22,590. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to about $426 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Elantra SE models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Elantra SE includes:

Remote keyless entry – You can unlock and lock the vehicle remotely when in range using the fob.

2024 Hyundai Elantra SEL: $23,425

The SEL offers the best value. It builds off the SE with more features and options yet is still priced well below the $25,000 mark. Ironically, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto go away, as does the fuel-saving idle start/stop feature.

Moving to the SEL brings 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, a driver’s auto-up window, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and illuminated visor vanity mirrors on sliding sun visors. You also get a proximity key system that enables hands-free trunk release, push-button start, and unlocking the doors, all without removing the fob from your purse or pocket.

The audio system upgrades to a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Hyundai Bluelink+ connected services, which now come with no trial period expiration date. With Bluelink, you can use a phone app to start or locate your car, get automatic crash notifications and SOS emergency services, and set parental controls that alert for excessive speed, distance warning, and breaking curfew. A Wi-Fi hot spot is also available.

The SEL Convenience Package adds $1,750 to the price. It brings more desirable equipment, such as heated front seats, heated outside mirrors, adaptive cruise control, and an upgraded forward collision assist system with cyclist detection and junction turning, the latter warning of danger when you’re making a left turn across oncoming traffic.

The package also includes voice recognition software, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, an electronic parking brake, and a wireless charging pad.

Adding the $1,115 destination fee to the SEL base price brings the total to $24,540. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to about $463 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Elantra SEL models for sale near you

Proximity Key entry – If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock when you touch the door handle. Push-button start is paired with keyless entry.

Dual-zone automatic climate control – A set-and-forget system, it divides the vehicle into left and right regions. It provides separate temperature settings for each zone. Once set, it automatically maintains the preset temperatures.

Digital Key – You can enter and start your Elantra N Line with your smartphone. You can even start it remotely and share the key with friends and family.

Wireless charging – Any Qi-compatible smartphone can be charged without plugging in a cable.

2024 Hyundai Elantra Limited: $26,915

In addition to gaining the features included in the SEL Convenience Package, the Limited grade builds on the SEL trim by adding 17-inch alloy wheels. Also added are front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, LED headlights, and heated outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals.

An 8-speaker Bose audio system and Hyundai Highway Drive Assist round out the Limited’s feature set.

There are no available factory-installed options.

Adding the $1,115 destination fee to the Limited base price brings the total to $28,030. With $0 down, financing for 60 months at 5% interest works out to about $529 per month. See 2024 Hyundai Elantra Limited models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Elantra Limited includes:

Highway Drive Assist – A semi-autonomous driving system that can steer, brake, and accelerate the vehicle without driver input in limited situations.

Auto-dimming rearview mirror – Using photosensors, the mirror recognizes bright headlights closing from behind. It then automatically dims the reflection of those lights.

Mirrors with integrated turn signals – These heated and power-adjustable outboard mirrors have integrated turn signals.

2024 Hyundai Elantra N: $33,500 (estimated)

Not to be confused with the N Line trim, the Elantra N is a distinct model bred for racetracks. At the same time, it’s nearly as comfortable as an everyday driver.

Tuned on Germany’s Nürburgring track, the Elantra N uses a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 276 hp. You can mate it with a 6-speed manual transmission or pony up $1,500 for the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

The list of standard features is long, beginning with five drive modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, N, and Custom. Nineteen-inch alloy wheels, an electronic limited-slip differential, an electronically controlled suspension, larger brakes, a rear spoiler, and Launch Control accent the N’s racier elements.

LED exterior lights (auto on/off headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights) and heated, leather-trimmed front sport seats with microsuede inserts and illuminated N logo are included, too.

Other amenities are dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch LCD cluster display, Proximity Key entry with push-button start, and Digital Key 2. Wireless phone charging, heated outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, and alloy pedals are included.

Among its infotainment features are two USB ports, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Bluetooth connectivity and navigation are standard.
