2024 Hyundai Venue: Choosing the Right Trim

Hyundai’s boxy little Venue,  a front-wheel-drive compact crossover SUV powered by a fuel-efficient 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, carries over into the 2024 model year in relatively unchanged fashion.

With a few upgrades: The SEL and Limited trim levels now get dual USB charging ports for the rear seat, plus a proximity key and a pushbutton starter.

Also notable: A 6-speaker audio system is now standard on the SEL and above, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto become standard across the whole 2024 Hyundai Venue lineup.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue is one of the least expensive new cars sold in the U.S. Competitors for this Hyundai include its corporate cousin, the Kia Soul, plus other compact crossover SUVs like the Nissan Kicks and perhaps even the slightly larger Chevrolet Trax. All of these competitors, it should be noted, are exclusively front-wheel drive (FWD).

Understand that the Venue isn’t about off-road exploring; on the contrary, it’s a sprightly urban runabout aimed at young buyers who will appreciate its low price, boxy practicality, excellent connectivity, and easy parking.

Just how fuel-efficient is the Venue? According to the EPA, this Hyundai is rated at 29 mpg city/33 mpg highway/31 mpg combined. Even with its small 11.9-gallon fuel tank, the Venue can still travel about 350 miles between fill-ups. Its engine — a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder that sends 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) — gets the job done in a smooth and unobtrusive fashion.

Although it’s spacious for its size, owing to its boxy shape, the Venue does get tight on rear legroom when the front seats are moved all the way back. On a positive note, there is a handy 18.7 cubic feet of luggage space behind the second row, opening up to 31.9 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seat is folded. While that’s respectable, the Venue comes up short against the Nissan Kicks, which is 10 inches longer and has 25.3 and 32.3 cubic feet of cargo room, respectively.

As a Hyundai, the 2024 Venue is backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a powertrain plan that lasts for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

What’s New:

For 2024, the Hyundai Venue SEL and Limited get dual USB charging ports for the rear seat, plus a proximity key and a pushbutton starter. Additionally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been made standard across the 2024 Hyundai Venue lineup, and the SEL and Limited trim levels both come equipped with a 6-speaker audio system.

Our Recommendation:

We continue to recommend the Hyundai Venue Limited, the top model. It offers lots of extra equipment for only a small increase in price. With its LED headlights and taillights, heated front seats, a navigation system, wireless charging pad, upgraded collision-avoidance system, and a price of only $23,050, the Hyundai Venue Limited is a great deal.

2024 Hyundai Venue SE: $19,800

The Hyundai Venue SE may be the entry-level model, but it’s by no means sparsely equipped.

Power windows? Check. Power door locks? Check. Power mirrors? Check.

What about air conditioning, cruise control, and tilt/telescope steering wheel with audio controls? The Venue SE has all those, too.

In addition to a digital TFT instrument cluster that mimics traditional analog gauges, the Venue SE features an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 4-speaker audio system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and three USB ports (two for charging, one for connecting your smartphone).

The 5-seat interior features cloth upholstery and a sliding center console armrest, plus unexpected niceties like lighted vanity mirrors and a handy 60/40 split-folding rear bench that greatly adds to the versatility of the Venue.

Perhaps what gives away the SE most as a base model are its 15-inch alloy wheels, which wear 185/65 tires and look downright puny on the car. The SE also is the only Venue with drum rear brakes, another visual giveaway.

As in 2023, the 2024 Hyundai Venue SE comes standard with a generous safety suite, one highlighted by a forward-collision warning system with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. Six airbags, lane-keep assist, and even a system that senses when you might be getting drowsy are all standard.

Of note: The SE does not come with a blind-spot monitor, one of our favorite safety technologies.

Nor are there any options available on the Korean-built Venue SE. Several accessories, though, like cargo nets and mudguards, are available.

Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the SE’s base price brings the total to $21,135. If you put $0 down and finance the Venue SE for 60 months at a 5% interest rate, you’ll have a monthly payment of $399. See 2024 Hyundai Venue SE models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Venue SE includes:

  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto – Having the capabilities and versatility of your smartphone via the Venue SE’s 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is convenience defined.
  • Front, side, and head-curtain airbags – The Venue may be small, but it offers excellent airbag protection. There are six airbags in total.
  • Adjustable rear cargo floor – The higher setting makes it easy to reach your groceries; the lower one helps accommodate taller cargo.

2024 Hyundai Venue SEL: $21,800

If you can afford the extra $2,000, we think the Venue SEL is a smarter purchase than the SE.

Here’s why: It’s significantly better equipped. Among the notable upgrades on the SEL are rear disc brakes, automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and blind-spot monitoring with a rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2024 Hyundai Venue SEL also has Drive Mode Select (with Normal, Sport, and Snow modes), a 6-speaker stereo, two rear USB ports, and leather trim on the shifter and steering wheel.

On the outside, the most prominent visual improvement is a switch to 17-inch alloy wheels equipped with 205/55R-17 tires. These bigger wheels and wider tires look much better on the Venue without looking overly large. Rear disc brakes also come standard on the Venue SEL.

Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the Hyundai Venue SEL’s base price totals $23,135. If you put $0 down and finance the Venue SEL for 60 months at a 5% interest rate, you’ll have a monthly payment of $437. See 2024 Hyundai Venue SEL models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Venue SEL includes:

  • Roof side rails – Hyundai says these roof side rails have a max load capacity of 175 pounds, so a bike rack would work nicely on the SEL.
  • Blind-spot monitor – This system, which makes lane changes much safer by letting you know when a car or motorcycle is lurking in your blind spot, should be standard on all 2024 Venues, especially since we see this Hyundai as a popular first car for beginning drivers. It’s complemented on the SEL by rear cross-traffic alert.
  • Drive Mode Select – The SEL lets you choose drive modes, including a Snow Mode. Front-wheel drive works remarkably well in the snow.

2024 Hyundai Venue Limited: $23,050

The Limited continues to be the top Hyundai Venue, now priced only $1,250 more than the Venue SEL.

For that extra coin, you get grippy leatherette upholstery, LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights, plus a navigation system, satellite radio, and a better collision-avoidance system that uses a camera and radar to detect stopped cars, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Other appreciated standard fare on the Venue Limited includes heated front seats, heated side mirrors, a proximity key with a pushbutton starter, a wireless smartphone charger, and Hyundai’s Blue Link Connected Car System, which allows you to start the Venue remotely and even set the temperature to your liking before getting in the car

If you see a two-tone Venue on the road or dealer lot, it’s a Limited. It’s the only Venue trim available that way. But only in the following color combinations: Lunar White with a black roof, Denim with a white roof, Ecotronic Gray with a black roof, or Ceramic White with a black roof.

Of note, the 2024 Hyundai Venue Limited doesn’t get a sunroof, even though one is standard on the Venue SEL. What gives? Hyundai fits the Venue Limited with an overhead console (and a reading light) that makes a sunroof impossible.

Adding the $1,335 destination fee to the Venue Limited’s base price brings the total to $24,385. If you put $0 down and financed this Venue for 60 months at a 5% interest rate, you’ll have a monthly payment of $460. See 2024 Hyundai Venue Limited models for sale near you

2024 Hyundai Venue Limited includes:

  • Bluelink Connected Car System – With this system, you can use your smartphone to remotely start the Venue Limited and even set the climate control to your liking. Complimentary for three years.
  • GPS navigation – It’s nice not being reliant on a cell signal for directions, especially in remote areas.
  • Heated front seats – There’s nothing better on a cold morning.
