When it comes to luxury sedans, it doesn’t get any easier than the Lexus ES. Loaded with features, this luxurious 4-door offers a variety of trims and engines, including a hybrid option, and still retains some of the highest resale and reliability ratings of any midsize luxury sedan.
Lexus offers the ES in four flavors. The ES 250 trims employ a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive (AWD).

The ES 350 trims are nearly identical to their 250 counterparts regarding features, only they are front-wheel drive (FWD) and gain a 302-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine.
The F-Sport models are visually enhanced versions of the 250, 300h, and 350 trims, and while the F Sport Handling trims get a few more performance upgrades, they gain no additional horsepower.
Competing for your luxury dollar are newer sedans like the Acura TLX and Genesis G80 and old favorites like the Cadillac CT5, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Infiniti Q50, and Volvo S60.

2024 Lexus ES 250 AWD: $43,190
Along with its standard AWD, the ES 250 features the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of driver assists. The package features forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Additional safety systems include a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic detection, a rearview monitor, 10 airbags, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
Intersection Assist alerts to the dangers of oncoming traffic when turning left. The system can also detect pedestrians when making a left or right turn.
Lane-Tracing Assist works when using adaptive cruise control, keeping the vehicle centered between lane markers. Road Sign Assist recognizes and posts traffic sign information, so you’ll always know the posted speed limit.
A quick walk around the ES 250’s exterior reveals bi-LED headlights with auto-leveling, LED taillights, heated power side mirrors, a power moonroof, and 17-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels.
Lexus’ Smart Access keyless entry system uses a proximity key fob that alerts the car to your presence. You need only touch the door handle to unlock the vehicle and push a button to start the engine.
Moving to the ES 250 cabin, we find 10-way power front seats with power lumbar support, perforated NuLuxe synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a color digital instrument cluster and driver display.
The ES infotainment system consists of an 8-inch color dash-mounted touchscreen hosting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also included are SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Lexus connected apps covering vehicle health reports, a vehicle locator, remote start, and more.
Drive Connect expands the infotainment system, offering cloud-based navigation, Intelligent Assistant (voice-activated assistant), and Destination Assist, all subscription-based upgrades.
A 10-speaker Lexus premium sound system covers music duties.
One omission worth noting: The ES rear seats do not fold down. If you need more than 16.7 cubic feet of trunk space, your only option is a narrow pass-through behind the center folding armrest.
The most desirable options for the ES 250 get bundled into packages.
The Premium Package brings heated and ventilated front seats, a power tilt/telescoping heated leather steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and rear emergency braking. Also included are wiper de-icers, a wireless charging pad, power-folding side mirrors, and memory for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and power-tilt steering wheel.
The Technology Package adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 3-year trial to Drive Connect, a 10.2-inch head-up display, and a Smart Access key card.
