Lexus builds the LX 600 to compete with heavy hitters like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Land Rover Range Rover, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS. As such, it lands somewhere in the middle, not as sporty as the Mercedes or Land Rover, but more off-road capable than the Cadillac and Lincoln.
The body-on-frame LX offers several seating configurations. The Ultra Luxury, with its rear lounge chair-like seating, can hold only four people, while the base LX seats five. Those seeking 7-passenger accommodations must move to the Premium, F Sport Handling, or Luxury.
Regardless of which trim you choose, a 409-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 comes standard, as does 4-wheel drive (4WD) with a low-range gear. You’ll also get Lexus’ Multi-Terrain Select System, which provides the following off-road driving modes: Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow, and Rock.
Not many Lexus owners will take their luxury SUV to boulder-strewn trails. But if they need to, it’s nice to know the LX 600’s standard Crawl Control can handle the job.
After many hours behind the LX wheel, we’ve come to appreciate this big SUV for its elegant cabin, tremendous technical suite, impressive off-road capabilities, and benchmark build quality.

The Lexus LX 600 Premium trim is the best buy. It offers adaptive suspension and lots of luxury while still being capable off-road. It’s also available with an Appearance Package and an Interior Upgrade Package.
The base LX appeals as a roomy 2-row 5-seater with 46 cubic feet of cargo room in the back. Three-row LXs have only 11 cubic feet of space behind their third row.

2024 Lexus LX 600: $91,565
As you may have surmised, the LX 600 is no stripped-down base model with an entry-level price north of $90,000. It comes loaded with equipment and offers no optional upgrades other than a choice of paint and interior color. The LX 600 is a 5-passenger-only model. If you need a third row, jump to the Premium, F Sport Handling, or Luxury trims.
At the top of the LX 600’s equipment roster is the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 driver assist suite. It includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane-departure warning (with steering assist), road-sign assist, automatic high-beam headlights, left-turn intersection support, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Adaptive cruise control works at speeds above 30 mph and can take the vehicle to a complete stop if needed, then resume once traffic begins to move again. Lane Tracing Assist works with the adaptive cruise control to keep the LX centered in its lane.
Lexus Intuitive Parking Assist adds sensors to the rear bumper to warn when you’re getting too close to an object. If the driver fails to hit the brakes, the LX will do it automatically. A Panoramic View monitor shows a 360-degree view outside the LX, while Multi-Terrain Monitor places a camera underneath the chassis, displaying an up-close view of the road or trail ahead.
Touring the LX 600 exterior reveals 20-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, a power rear liftgate, LED headlights with washers, front wiper de-icers, heated side mirrors, and tow package and hitch tow-rated up to 8,000 pounds.
Moving to the interior, we find supple leather upholstery, a 10-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar and seat cushion extender, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped heated power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, and Quad-zone automatic climate control. There’s also a wireless charging pad, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and an 8-inch digital gauge cluster.
The infotainment system features a landscape-oriented 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen mounted high atop the center stack, complemented by a 7-inch touchscreen and a 10-speaker audio system.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Four USB ports provide ample opportunity for charging phones or tablets.
While Lexus doesn’t provide factory-installed option packages for the base LX 600, several available accessories exist, including all-weather cargo mats, roof-rack cross bars, wheel locks, etc.

With the optional Interior Upgrade Package, you get softer semi-aniline interior leather, vented second-row seats, and a cooling box in the console for your drinks.

Cosmetic touches include F Sport badges on the front fenders, plus unique front and rear bumpers. Inside, the F Sport treatment appears in the supple semi-aniline seat leather, the perforated leather trim on the steering wheel, and the F Sport aluminum pedal covers.
