2024 Lincoln Nautilus: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is all-new this year. It comes to market with fresh new styling, a choice of gasoline or gas/electric hybrid powerplants and one of the most advanced digital dash designs we’ve yet seen from Ford’s luxury division.

As is Lincoln’s way, the Nautilus comes in three trims: Premiere, Reserve, and the top-line Black Label. However, unlike most luxury SUVs, Lincoln loads the base Premiere with so many features one might think it was a midlevel trim. Of course, the Premiere’s price reflects its generous standard equipment list, something to keep in mind when comparison shopping.

For 2024, all-wheel drive (AWD) comes standard, as does a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine good for 250 horsepower. Nautilus buyers can upgrade to a hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 310 hp.

Along with traditional rivals like the Cadillac XT5 and Lexus RX, the Nautilus must contend with newer challengers like the Genesis GV80, Volvo XC60, and Infiniti QX60. Given the improvements across the board, the new Nautilus is more than up to the challenge.

Prices provided are new car MSRP at the time of publishing.

2024 Lincoln Nautilus Premiere: $50,415

The Premiere is the entry-level model, but its price and features put it above most competitors’ base models, making it an attractive choice for those seeking a well-appointed luxury SUV with subdued good looks.

Mechanical highlights include a 250-hp turbocharged engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, standard AWD, and torque-vectoring technology that varies power to the rear wheels when cornering, helping the Nautilus remain on its intended path.

Lincoln Drive Modes include Conserve, Deep Conditions, Excite, Normal, and Slippery. They allow the driver to vary how the engine accelerates and consumes fuel and adjust shift points, steering feel, and traction control.

The optional hybrid engine uses the same 2.0-liter turbo paired with an electric motor and battery setup. Horsepower increases to 310, but the 8-speed automatic gets replaced by a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), which some may find less responsive in spirited driving.

Starting with safety, the Premiere comes standard with Lincoln’s Co-Pilot360 Vision 2.2 suite. Along with the usual forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot detection, the system includes automatic high-beam headlights, an automatic parking assistant, and adaptive cruise control with stop/go.

Additional features include front and rear parking sensors, reverse emergency braking, a 360-degree camera, rear cross-traffic detection with braking, intersection assist (watches for traffic crossing in front of the vehicle), lane-keeping assist, and evasive steering assist.

Lincoln’s BlueCruise 1.2 semiautonomous driving program comes with a 90-day free trial. On approved stretches of highway, BlueCruise can steer, brake, and accelerate with little to no input from the driver. This version can also make lane changes and perform in-lane repositioning, a nice feature when not wanting to be too close to a large truck in the adjacent lane.

Moving to the Premiere’s exterior, we find illuminated door handles and rear spoiler, heated and power-folding side-view mirrors that tilt down in reverse, welcome lighting, a power rear liftgate, adaptive LED headlights, and Lincoln Dynamic Signature lighting.

The Premiere rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and features acoustic laminated glass for the windshield and front windows. It also has rain-sensing wipers, remote window control, and Intelligent Access proximity keyless entry with push-button start.

Some of the Nautilus’ other notable features include heated Visio Blade wipers that can clear frost from the windshield by running the wipers for a few minutes. Touch the Nautilus’ front door pillar, and a digital keypad appears, allowing a 5-digit combination to lock or unlock the doors.

If the Premiere’s exterior sounds impressive, wait until you look inside.

The most discerning feature is a massive 48-inch panoramic digital display screen spanning the entire dashboard. It includes a digital instrument cluster and selectable themes with names like Constellation, Engage, Inspire, and Tranquil.

Just below the panoramic screen is an 11-inch touchscreen for controlling the multimedia features and various panels on the panoramic screen.

The Lincoln operating system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Play, Amazon Alexa, Lincoln Connect apps, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Bluetooth.

The audio portion includes HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 10-speaker premium audio system, and a powered subwoofer. There are four USB-C charge ports, a wireless charge pad, and two 12-volt outlets, so charging phones and devices should never be an issue.

Along with over-the-air updates, an app lets you turn your phone into a key to unlock and start the Nautilus. You can also open the rear liftgate or set the vehicle into low-speed valet mode, so it can’t be hot-rodded around the parking lot.

Luxury amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, a power tilt/telescoping heated steering wheel, LED ambient interior lighting, and Lincoln Soft Touch imitation leather upholstery.

There’s a 10-way power driver’s seat and an 8-way power passenger seat featuring 2-way power lumbar support, heating, and cooling. The driver’s seat also features 2-position memory for the seat, steering wheel, and mirrors.

The 60/40-split folding rear seats can be lowered via buttons in the cargo area.

Optional features include the 102A package, which adds the Digital Scent system with three cartridges (Violet Cashmere, Mystic Forest, and Ozonic Azure), a hands-free power liftgate, a panoramic Vista Roof, heated rear seats, a 110-volt outlet, and a 14-speaker Revel audio system.

The BlueCruise trial period is extended from 90 days to four years.

The Jet Appearance Package removes the Nautilus’ exterior chrome trim. It replaces it with gloss-black accents, adds body-colored Sport bumpers, a Black Onyx interior, and 20-inch silver and black alloy wheels.

With the $1,395 destination charge, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus Premiere costs $51,810. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $978. See 2024 Lincoln Nautilus Premiere models for sale near you

FAQ

  • What is the best 2024 Lincoln Nautilus trim?

For luxury buyers, the Reserve trim is the best choice. It offers more style and options, yet even fully loaded costs nearly $8,000 less than a similarly equipped Black Label.

  • How many miles per gallon does the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus get?

At the time of publishing, neither Lincoln nor the EPA has released fuel economy figures. Based on last year’s model, we’re estimating that the gas engine will get around 22 mpg combined, while the hybrid should come close to 36 mpg.

  • Which 2024 Lincoln Nautilus trim offers the most safety?

Because Lincoln makes every driver assist and safety system standard, no Nautilus trim is safer than another.

To date, neither the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the government has crash-tested the 2024 Nautilus. However, we imagine the new Nautilus will perform equally well, if not better, than the current model, which earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick accolade.
