The Mercedes-Benz GLB straddles the line between the subcompact and compact SUV. As the letters in its name imply, the GLB is bigger than the subcompact GLA and smaller than the compact GLC. One of the distinguishing factors of this boxy little SUV is its optional 3-row seating. Suppose you like the bigger and more expensive Mercedes-Benz GLE because of its optional third row of seats. In that case, the GLB is a significantly more affordable alternative and still comes with the luxury you’d expect from a Mercedes-Benz. That third row isn’t meant for anybody over 5-foot-4, but it’s great when extra seats are needed in a pinch.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB competes with small luxury SUVs like the BMW X2, Audi Q5, and Lincoln Corsair.
What’s New:
The Mercedes-Benz GLB gets a facelift for 2024. The front and rear ends are restyled, and a new 48-volt mild hybrid system is employed under the hood. LED headlights, the latest MBUX infotainment system, and dual 10.25-inch displays now come standard, and there’s a new optional Burmester audio system.
Our Recommendation:
We like the base GLB 250, but we’d add the optional Driver Assistance Package for the extra safety tech. Add the 4Matic all-wheel drive system if it makes sense for your climate, but most of us can get by with front-wheel drive, which yields better fuel economy.
