The Mercedes-EQ EQB is a surprising value in the growing world of electric luxury SUVs. Although it’s not quite the technological marvel or high-performance powerhouse that the bigger and pricier EQE SUV and EQS SUV are, the EQB is a practical choice in premium EVs. It has a relatively modest price tag, a respectable range of up to 245 miles, and a spacious interior with available 3-row seating.
The closest rivals of the Mercedes-EQ EQB SUV are the Tesla Model Y (also available with 3-row seating), Audi Q4 e-tron, and Lexus RZ. It also competes with the upper trims of EVs from mainstream brands like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Chevrolet Blazer EV.
What’s New:
This year, the EQB gets more standard tech features, including the Keyless Go Package, a wireless charging pad, SiriusXM, augmented reality, and the Mid-Line sound system. There are also a few new options, including aluminum trim, Star Pattern trim, and Distronic adaptive cruise control.
Our Recommendation:
We recommend the EQB 300 4Matic. Although its range isn’t quite as good as the EQB 250+, the 300 4Matic model adds all-wheel drive (AWD) and a significant performance upgrade while keeping the price under $60K. Add the Driver Assistance Package if you have room in your budget.

2024 Mercedes-EQ EQB 250+: $52,750
Whenever you see a plus sign in the model name of an electric Mercedes, that’s the one with the best range. As such, the EQB 250+ boasts a 245-mile range from its electric powertrain. This EQB has front-wheel drive, 188 hp, and 284 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough for an estimated 0-60 mph time of 8.0 seconds.
Every EQB uses a 70.5-kilowatt battery with DC fast charging capability. When plugged into a public DC fast charging station, the battery can charge from 0% to 80% in as little as 32 minutes. With Level 2 charging at home, it can get to 80% in about six hours.
Standard features in the 2024 EQB include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a power liftgate, a memory driver’s seat, adjustable second-row seats, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, and a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster.
The standard MBUX infotainment system has a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation with augmented reality, SiriusXM, and a Mid-Line sound system. Active brake assist, blind-spot assist, parking sensors, and automatic high beams highlight the standard safety tech.
The option package we recommend the most is the Driver Assistance Package ($1,700). It adds a long list of driver assistance tech features, including speed limit assist, emergency stop assist, route-based speed adaptation, active lane-keeping and lane-changing assist, active steering assist, active blind-spot assist, adaptive cruise control, and evasive steering assist.
The AMG Night Package ($3,250) adds a sportier look with AMG body styling, black exterior trim, 18-inch AMG wheels, sport seats, a Nappa leather sport steering wheel, AMG sport pedals, and spiral-look backlit trim.
The Pinnacle Package makes the EQB more luxurious with a Burmester audio system, a head-up display, logo projectors, a 360-degree camera, and the MBUX interior assistant. Drivers in cold climates will want the Winter Package, which adds a heated steering wheel, front seats, and windshield wipers.
One of our favorite EQB options is a third row of seats you can add for an extra $850. Other individual options include a panoramic sunroof ($1,500), adaptive suspension ($990), adaptive cruise control ($600), a garage door opener ($280), wood interior trim ($325), aluminum trim ($175), and premium paint ($750-$1,750).
