2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a viable alternative to compact crossovers like the Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos, Subaru Crosstrek, and Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The Eclipse Cross comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD), an optional feature on many competitors, across all trim levels. It also has an impressively long 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, matching Kia and Hyundai.

Mitsubishi loads the Eclipse Cross with a bunch of fun features spread out over five trims. Prices range from around $26,400 for the base ES to just under $32,300 for a loaded SEL.

Every Eclipse Cross uses the same 152-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged engine hooked to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

What’s New:

For 2024, the Eclipse Cross LE trim gains Mitsubishi connected services, proximity key entry, and push-button start. The SE adds a hands-free power liftgate, high-speed forward emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Our Recommendation:

Given the price difference is only a few thousand dollars, we’d pick the Eclipse Cross SE over the ES and LE trims. It offers enough features to satisfy most buyers, more standard driver assists, and an available panoramic sunroof.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ES: $26,345

The entry-level ES surprises with its feature-rich standard content list, adding things like heated side mirrors, LED headlights, and LED fog lights at no extra cost.

On the flip side, the ES trim isn’t as generous as the Honda HR-V or Kia Seltos regarding standard driver assists, offering only forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and a lane departure warning.

If you want automatic high-beam headlights or adaptive cruise control, move to one of the more expensive trims.

Other safety features include complete airbag coverage with a driver’s knee airbag, a rearview camera, a tire pressure monitor, and a hill start assist.

The ES comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear wiper/washer, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, remote keyless entry, a rear roof spoiler, and body-colored mirrors and door handles.

The cabin is equally well organized and includes cloth upholstery, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, an auto up/down power driver’s window, a color multi-information display, automatic climate controls, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with controls for cruise, Bluetooth, and audio.

The ES infotainment system has a 7-inch touchscreen display controlling an AM/FM/HD Radio stereo with four speakers. The system includes Bluetooth capability, but that’s about it.

With the $1,445 destination charge, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ES costs $27,790. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $524. See 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ES models for sale near you

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ES includes:

  • Automatic climate control – With these intuitive climate controls, you set the desired temp, and the system maintains it without further input.
  • Heated side mirrors – Heating elements behind the mirrors help prevent ice and snow from building up and blocking your view.
  • Rear privacy glass – Dark-tinted rear glass helps keep the cabin cool and prying eyes at bay.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross LE: $27,995

If you’re an economy shopper, go with the LE over the base ES. It adds only about $30 to the monthly payment but gets you features we think most people want in a car.

Building off the ES, the LE adds a Fast Key proximity keyless entry system with a push-button start, 18-inch black-painted alloy wheels, black side mirrors with turn signal indicators, a rear bumper step protector, and automatic high-beam headlights.

The interior gains heated front seats, front and rear USB charge ports, and an upgraded infotainment system featuring an 8-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

With the $1,445 destination fee, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross LE costs $29,440. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $556. See 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross LE models for sale near you

Automatic high-beam headlights – The high beams automatically come on when detecting low-light conditions. They dim when sensing another vehicle ahead or approaching in the opposite direction.

Heated front seats – Two-level heated front seats let occupants decide their comfort level.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Ralliart: $31,000 (estimated)

The Ralliart is an appearance package added to the LE trim. It adds Ralliart-themed graphics, mud flaps, a rear spoiler, a tailgate lip, and lower body embellishments in red and black. Ralliart, for the record, is the name of Mitsubishi’s high-performance and motorsports division.

With the $1,445 destination charged, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Ralliart is estimated to cost around $32,445. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to around $612. See 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Ralliart models for sale near you

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE: $29,045

The SE is our favorite trim. Not much more expensive than LE, the SE brings the Eclipse Cross up to speed with rival crossovers, with standard features like adaptive cruise control, a hands-free power liftgate, and high-speed automatic emergency braking.

Additional driver aids include blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

The SE brings automatic on/off headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels.

Interior upgrades such as illuminated door panels, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and synthetic suede upholstery make the cabin feel more luxurious, as do lighted visor vanity mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The infotainment system gains two more speakers for a total of six. It also picks up GPS navigation.

The SE’s Panoramic Sunroof Package adds a large panoramic glass sunroof and black roof rails.

With the $1,445 destination charged, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE costs $30,490. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $575. See 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE models for sale near you

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SE includes:

Adaptive cruise control – The SE’s adaptive cruise control maintains a set distance to the car in front, slowing and accelerating as needed.

Hands-free power liftgate – The power liftgate automatically opens when you kick your foot under the rear bumper of the Eclipse Cross SE.

Dual-zone automatic climate control – With this, there’s no need to argue with your front passenger about what is an acceptable temp inside the SE.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL: $30,445

If you want every possible feature on your Eclipse Cross, the SEL trim is the way to get it.

Building off the SE, the SEL gains leather upholstery, an 8-way power passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, and a multi-view camera system.

It also features a black headliner, one-touch up/down power windows, and steering wheel paddle shifters.

The optional Touring Package adds an 8-speaker Mitsubishi Power Sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and a head-up display. Also in the package is an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink remote garage door opener and heated rear seats.

With the $1,445 destination charged, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL costs $31,890. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $602. See 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL models for sale near you

Available heated rear seats – With the Touring Package’s heated rear seats, passengers in the back can get warm without asking the driver to crank the heat.

Panoramic sunroof – The SEL’s big glass roof lets in more light and can be opened for better airflow.

Available Mitsubishi Power Sound – This 8-speaker sound system rocks. It’s a must-have for lovers of loud music.

FAQ

  • What is the warranty coverage for the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?

The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comes with a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and a 7-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion warranty. You also get five years of roadside assistance (unlimited miles).

  • How many miles per gallon the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross get?

The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ES earns EPA fuel economy figures of 25 mpg city/28 mpg highway/26 mpg combined. All other trims get a slightly lower rating of 25 mpg city/26 mpg highway/25 mpg combined.

  • Which 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross offers the most safety?

In crash testing, the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gives the Eclipse Cross a 5-Star overall rating, earning four stars in the frontal and rollover crash tests and five stars in the side impact test.

Oddly, the independent IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) comes to the opposite conclusion, giving the 2022 Eclipse Cross a good rating in all but the side-impact test, which earned a Poor rating.

Obviously, the trims with the most driver assists will offer the best chance of not getting into an accident, but all the trims have identical scores in actual crash tests.
