The Nissan Frontier is a modern midsize pickup truck with a little old-school charm. The rugged Frontier is one of the more value-conscious options in this segment thanks to its sub-$30,000 starting price and standard 310-horsepower V6 engine.
Two cab options are available: a King Cab and a larger Crew Cab with four full-size doors. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard; 4-wheel drive (4WD) is available on all models. The one available transmission is a 9-speed automatic.
Most models have a 5-foot bed. The long-wheelbase 2024 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SV has a 6-foot bed.

Our Recommendation:
The midrange SV trim is the best buy in the Nissan Frontier lineup. The pricing is reasonable; it’s available with the King Cab or Crew Cab and has a nice list of standard and optional features. This is also the only trim you can get the Hardbody Edition appearance package.

2024 Nissan Frontier S: $29,770
The Nissan Frontier S is an honest work truck with few frills. One of its biggest strengths is its engine, a 310-hp V6 mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features in the Frontier S include 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, push-button start, front USB ports (one USB-A, one USB-C), Trailer Sway Control, and Hill Start Assist.
The standard NissanConnect infotainment system has an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, and a 4-speaker audio system. Modern safety tech is limited to forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and Intelligent Driver Alertness.
The standard configuration has the King Cab and RWD, but the Crew Cab and 4WD are optional. Pricing varies depending on your specific configuration, but the Crew Cab 4×4 model starts at $34,070.
An available S Utility Package ($700) includes a spray-in bedliner and 120V power outlets in the bed and rear center console. A Technology Package ($990) adds more safety tech like lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.
The only individual option from the factory is remote start ($375).

We feel the midrange SV trim is the right Frontier for most buyers. On top of what you get in the S trim, the SV model adds 16-inch alloy wheels, body-color exterior trim, tire pressure monitoring, better seat cloth, a power driver’s seat, chrome interior door handles, dual vanity mirrors, and a 6-speaker audio system.
Also, the Frontier SV is available with more options than the S. Like the S model, you can get it with 4WD and either cab style. On top of remote start and the Technology Package, the SV trim can be ordered with premium paint ($395) and the SV Convenience Package ($2,190). The Fender premium audio ($750) can be added to the Crew Cab.
The SV Convenience Package is a great upgrade. It features all the contents of the S Utility Package plus the Utili-track system (with two adjustable tie-down cleats), 17-inch wheels, heated mirrors, heated front seats, a heated leather steering wheel, remote start, fog lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, an overhead console, a sliding rear window, a tow/haul mode switch, and a leather-covered shift lever.
The new Hardbody Edition ($3,890) is available exclusively for the SV Crew Cab 4×4 model. This retro appearance package is a nod to old Nissan pickups from the 1980s and 1990s. The package features unique 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, fender flares, an aluminum skid plate, black bumpers, black mirrors and exterior trim, a sport bar, and unique graphics.

Nicer look — The SV trim is more handsome than the base model thanks to its alloy wheels, body-color trim, and nicer cloth upholstery.
Hardbody Edition — The retro-inspired Hardbody Edition is exclusive to the SV Crew Cab 4×4 model in the Frontier lineup. It’s a throwback to the Nissan Hardbody of the 1980s with retro wheels, a sport bar, and unique graphics.
SV Convenience Package — This option package makes the Frontier a more modern truck with features like heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and the Utili-track system with adjustable tie-down cleats.
2024 Nissan Frontier Pro-X/Pro-4X: $36,300/$39,300
The off-road-oriented Frontier is called Pro-X when equipped with RWD and Pro-4X when equipped with 4WD (an extra $3,000). Besides 4×4, the main difference is that the Pro-4X has underbody skid plates and an electronic locking rear differential. Both come with Bilstein off-road shocks. This trim is only available with the Crew Cab body.
The Pro-X and Pro-4X models have a rugged appearance package with 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, LED headlights and fog lights, red tow hooks, fender flares, and unique interior touches like contrast stitching.
Other standard features include a sliding rear window, a synthetic leather-wrapped center console, dual-zone automatic climate control, an overhead console, LED interior lighting, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, and a Tow/Haul mode switch.
It also has an upgraded infotainment system with a 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
A Convenience Package ($2,190) and a Premium Package ($2,790) are available at this trim level. There’s also a Pro Convenience Package that requires the Technology Package and includes the contents of the SV Convenience Package plus an around-view monitor with moving object detection and a wireless charging pad.
