2024 Nissan GT-R: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Nissan GT-R remains one of the most entertaining performance coupes money can buy. It may not be as modern as the Porsche 911 or Chevrolet Corvette Z06, but its power and performance never go out of style.

Offered in Premium, T-spec, or Nismo trim, the GT-R runs the gamut from a terrifyingly fast street cruiser to an all-out track champion. All versions derive power from a twin-turbocharged V6 good for 565 horsepower in the Premium and T-spec and 600 hp in the Nismo. A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) with shift paddles is the only transmission sending power to the ATTESA-ET-S all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

2024 Nissan GT-R Premium: $120,990

The Premium is the least expensive GT-R but not the least fun.

Like all GT-R trims, the Premium lacks advanced driver-assist systems, although it comes with traction and stability control, a rearview monitor, anti-lock brakes, and six airbags.

Along with its twin-turbocharged V6 and advanced AWD, the Premium includes an adaptive suspension with Bilstein DampTronic electronically modulated shock absorbers.

Stopping power comes courtesy of Brembo monoblock brakes with cross-drilled rotors, while a titanium exhaust helps the engine breathe and lets the world know you mean business.

A walk around the Premium’s exterior reveals 20-inch Rays alloy wheels wearing Dunlop Sport Maxx GT 600 ultra-high-performance run-flat tires. There are adaptive LED headlights, power-folding and heated side mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, and Nissan’s Intelligent Key keyless entry with proximity key fob and push-button start.

The Premium’s cockpit is a driver-oriented wonderland, with heated leather and synthetic suede front seats featuring 8-way power adjustability for the driver and 4-way for the passenger.

A “horizontal flow” Nappa leather-wrapped dash design puts everything within easy reach of the driver and includes a traditional instrument cluster with analog gauges, a tachometer, and a speedometer. Additional information such as oil pressure, g-force, stopwatch/lap timer, and turbo boost shows up in the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Regarding infotainment, the Premium features navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay (but not Android Auto) integration. It’s hooked to an 11-speaker Bose premium audio system with an AM/FM/CD/DVD/HD Radio receiver and two subwoofers. The system is so old it even has a USB/iPod interface.

Amenities include a leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel with a lap timer switch, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, one-touch up/down power windows, plus 3-position setup switches for the VDC stability control, suspension, and transmission.

Optional is the Premium Interior Package that adds hand-stitched semi-aniline leather cabin appointments.

With the $1,895 destination charge, the 2024 Nissan GT-R Premium costs $122,885. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $2,319. See 2024 Nissan GT-R Premium models for sale near you

A front limited-slip differential is new this year.

Other Nismo pleasantries include an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and Recaro seats with synthetic suede inserts.

Optional on the Nismo is an appearance package that adds a clear-painted carbon-fiber hood, a special-edition engine cover, and special-edition Rays forged 20-inch wheels.

FAQ

  • What is the best 2024 Nissan GT-R trim?

With $100,000 separating the Premium and Nismo trim levels of the 2024 Nissan GT-R, it seems a no-brainer to go with the lesser-priced Premium. Pick the T-spec if you want a bit more visual pop and some Nismo upgrades.

  • How many miles per gallon does the 2024 Nissan GT-R get?

Despite the Nissan GT-R Nismo delivering extra engine performance over the Premium, the EPA fuel economy is the same: 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway/18 mpg combined.

Does anyone who buys the GT-R really care about mileage?

  • Which 2024 Nissan GT-R trim offers the most safety?

Although the 2024 Nissan GT-R comes with some active safety tech like traction control and stability control, neither the Premium nor the Nismo grade provides any advanced safety technology, not even as an option.

Neither the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration government have crash-tested the 2024 Nissan GT-R.
