The Nissan Rogue continues to be a sales success, grafting the rugged good look of Nissan’s larger SUVs and trucks onto a compact SUV perfect for small families and urban dwellers.
Nissan sprinkles various equipment levels across four trims: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. The Rogue matches compacts like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape in size and features but falls short under the hood, where a hybrid engine option remains elusive.
Powering the Rogue is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine serving up 201 horsepower. This variable-compression engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that routes power to the front wheels, but all-wheel drive (AWD) is available on every trim. Despite not having a hybrid powertrain, its 37 mpg on the highway compares favorably with the hybrid SUVs mentioned above.

What’s New:
The 2024 Nissan Rogue gets a facelift, sporting a new grille, headlights, front and rear bumper treatment, and new wheel designs. The uplevel SL and Platinum get a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen hosting Google built-in, allowing access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play store without the need to plug in your phone. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto still work and operate wirelessly on the trims with the new screen.
The SL trim gets a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 3D Around View monitor, and a wireless charging pad, but some of its more upscale features are moved to the optional SL Premium package. The SV gains a power liftgate and a new 3-year trial period to NissanConnect services.
Our Recommendation:
While the SV trim is the value leader, we like the Rogue SL for its additional creature comforts and optional equipment. Even with AWD, the price remains around $35,000, which aligns with the average transaction price for a compact SUV.

2024 Nissan Rogue S: $28,320
The Rogue S provides the basics with not many frills. Still, for some buyers, its list of creature comforts and driver aids are everything they need at a price well under the $30,000 mark.
Standard equipment for the Rogue S includes dark gray 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic on/off LED headlights, LED taillights, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, power mirrors, and rear parking sensors.
The Rogue S interior is another area that defies its entry-level status, with a handsome two-tone gray-and-tan color treatment covering the dash and upper door panels. Charcoal gray cloth is the only upholstery option.
The Rogue S cabin features a height-adjustable manual driver’s seat, a 60/40-split folding rear seat with reclining seatbacks, and another uncommon feature in a base model: rear seat air vents.
Other amenities for the Rogue S include a tilt/telescoping steering wheel featuring paddle shifters, audio, Bluetooth, and cruise controls. A push-button start is standard, as is a one-touch up/down power driver’s window, remote keyless entry, manual air conditioning, and a trip computer.
Nissan’s 8-inch color touchscreen infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an AM/FM radio with four speakers, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Rogue’s front center console houses dual USB-C ports and an auxiliary input jack.
Little touches we appreciate include sliding sun visors with vanity mirrors, variable intermittent front wipers, and a rear wiper/washer.
Finally, you’ll find a generous roster of standard driver-assists and safety systems. They include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, a blind-spot monitor, rear-cross traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, a rear backup camera, and rear automatic braking.
Additional safety systems include front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and passenger knee airbags, and 2-row side curtain airbags. The Rogue S even has a system to remind the driver to check the rear seat (for sleeping babies, pets, or packages) before exiting the vehicle.
Nissan’s Easy-Fill Tire Alert is another clever feature, chirping the horn and flashing the lights when you’ve reached the correct tire pressure.
Mechanical features worthy of note include hill-start assist, which keeps the Rogue from rolling backward when stopped on an incline. It also has a drive mode selector that adjusts throttle mapping and transmission shift points over three settings: Normal, Eco, and Sport.
Models with AWD gain additional modes for Snow, Terrain Mode, and Auto, all designed to improve traction and stability on various road surfaces.
With the $1,365 destination charge, the 2024 Nissan Rogue S has an estimated cost of $29,685. On a 60-month loan with 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $560. See 2024 Nissan Rogue S models for sale
