2024 Nissan Versa: Choosing the Right Trim

The Nissan Versa, one of the most affordable cars in the U.S., resides in a shrinking class of subcompacts with a starting price well under $20,000. Despite its low cost, the Versa gets nicer than one might expect when fully loaded while retaining an affordable price tag.

We see the Versa as a leader in a small segment that includes the Kia Rio and Mitsubishi Mirage.

What’s New:

The Nissan Versa has a new safety feature this year: rear seat belt pre-tensioners. Also, the leather-wrapped shift knob was dropped from the SR trim.

Our Recommendation:

The SV trim is the best buy in the Nissan Versa lineup. It boasts modern features like alloy wheels, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charging pad while keeping the starting price under $20,000. However, we wouldn’t blame you for choosing the sportier and still-affordable Versa SR. While we like that the Versa remains available with a manual transmission, models with the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) get much better fuel economy.
