With its lightweight body, 2+2 seating, and rear-wheel-drive layout, the 2024 Subaru BRZ is a throwback to a time when small, nimble sports coupes were the desire of all who loved to drive. Today, there are barely any cars like it, the closest competitor being the Toyota GR86, with which it shares a platform, and the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
With so much of the BRZ’s development shared with Toyota, it is the only Subaru not to offer all-wheel drive (AWD). However, it has lots of Subaru DNA, notably its 228-horsepower 2.4-liter boxer engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and EyeSight driver-assist technology.

What’s New:
For 2024, the BRZ gains a new performance-oriented tS trim. Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist suite has also been made standard on all trims, including models with the manual transmission.
You can no longer get a BRZ Premium with an automatic transmission, a feature now only offered on the Limited.
Our Recommendation:
Given that the price and monthly payment are not that far apart, we’d pick the BRZ Limited over the BRZ Premium. For less than $50 more monthly, you’ll get heated seats, upgraded audio and interior, and more safety systems like a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. However, driving purists will likely be happier with the new tS.

2024 Subaru BRZ Premium: $30,195
The 2023 Subaru BRZ Premium has a 6-speed manual transmission, a 2.4-liter boxer engine, and a Torsen limited-slip differential. If you’re looking for an automatic, skip to the Limited trim.
The Premium’s performance attributes include an incline start assist (prevents the car from rolling backward as the driver depresses the clutch pedal) and a V-shaped strut tower brace. The car’s electronic traction and stability control system includes a Track Mode that dials back the electronic nannies, allowing for more wheel spin and sliding before stepping in to bring things under control. This feature is particularly appreciated when drifting or wanting more driver control while on the track.
A tire-pressure monitoring system allows ID for two sets of wheels, thus making it easier to swap between summer and winter tires.
New for 2024 is the addition of Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist suite, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lead vehicle start alert.
Additional safety features include front, front side-impact, side-curtain, and driver’s knee airbags. The BRZ’s handbrake is manual, not electric, a feature the drifting set appreciates.
Included with the 2024 Subaru BRZ Premium are 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, 215/45R-17 summer performance tires, a sport suspension, power side mirrors, keyless access with push-button start, LED headlights with automatic height adjustment, and variable front wipers that adjust the wiper cycle depending on the speed of the vehicle.
Moving to the BRZ Premium’s interior reveals well-bolstered, manually adjustable sport front seats clad in black cloth with red stitching and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter.
The driver gets a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio, Bluetooth, and cruise controls. They also enjoy a 7-inch configurable digital instrument cluster with a large central tachometer and digital speedometer flanked by your choice of gauges or information screens. The circular tachometer changes to a color bar graph when set to Track Mode.
Other amenities include auto up/down power windows, dual-zone automatic climate control, fold-down rear seat backs, aluminum-alloy pedal covers, an illuminated ignition switch ring, and a center storage console with a bi-fold lid.
The BRZ’s entertainment setup consists of an 8-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming, and a 6-speaker AM/FM audio system. The front console has dual USB data/charge ports and an auxiliary input jack, while the glove box adds a 12-volt power outlet.
With the $1,120 destination charge, the 2024 Subaru BRZ Premium costs $31,315. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $591. See 2024 Subaru BRZ Premium models for sale near you
2024 Subaru BRZ Premium includes:
Keyless entry and start — With the key fob in your purse or pocket, you need only touch the door handle to unlock the doors and push a button to start the car.
Dual-zone automatic climate control — This fully automated system allows driver and passenger to maintain their temperature zones.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — These move your smartphone abilities to the BRZ’s infotainment system, granting easy access and control of your favorite apps, music, messages, and navigation.
2024 Subaru BRZ Limited: $32,695
The Subaru BRZ Limited has the same mechanical equipment as the Premium, even the standard 6-speed manual transmission. However, unlike the Premium, the Limited offers a 6-speed automatic with manual shift paddles, an upgrade that adds $950 to the bottom line.
Moving to the Limited, it brings 18-inch alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer performance tires, heated front seats, and Ultrasuede upholstery with leather bolsters.
Additional driver assists include blind-spot detection with lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and steering-responsive headlights with automatic high beams. Opting for the automatic transmission gets you Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB).
Subaru includes Starlink-connected services, lighted visor vanity mirrors, door courtesy lights, and an audio amplifier with two additional speakers to round out the Limited’s standard features.
With the $1,120 destination charge, the 2024 Subaru BRZ Limited costs $33,815. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $638. See 2024 Subaru BRZ Limited models for sale near you
2024 Subaru BRZ Limited includes:
Heated front seats — These help keep the driver and passenger warm when the outside temperature drops.
Blind-spot detection — Detects vehicles in the car’s blind spot and alerts the driver. If signaling a lane change, the system will flash a warning light to let you know it’s not safe.
Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) — This system, standard on the Limited automatic, uses rear parking sensors to detect objects in the car’s path and alerts the driver. If the driver fails to take action, the system will slow or stop the vehicle before a collision occurs.
2024 Subaru BRZ tS: $35,345
The new tS trim level ratchets up the BRZ’s performance portfolio by adding STi-tuned Hitachi dampers, high-performance Brembo brakes with 4-piston gold-painted front brake calipers (2-piston in at the rear), and 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
Unique exterior styling cues include Crystal Black Silica mirror caps and shark fin antenna, while inside, blue stitching replaces red, and there’s greater use of suede-like Brin Naub material on the instrument panel visor and doors. There’s also an STi-branded starter button.
The remainder of the Subaru BRZ tS equipment follows the Limited trim minus the available automatic transmission.
With the $1,120 destination charge, the 2024 Subaru BRZ tS costs $36,465. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $688. See 2024 Subaru BRZ tS models for sale near you
2024 Subaru BRZ tS includes:
Brembo brakes — With larger rotors and brake pads, Brembo brakes provide superior braking and heat dissipation.
Hitachi dampers — STi-tuned performance shock absorbers improve stability in cornering without producing a significantly harsh ride.
tS 18-inch wheels — The tS wheels look particularly menacing and provide better grip thanks to their grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
