2024 Toyota Camry: Choosing the Right Trim

While some domestic manufacturers have given up on the sedan, Toyota doubles down with the most expansive Camry lineup yet. There are five 4-cylinder Camry trims, all with the option of all-wheel drive, and three V6-powered trims regrettably only offered with front-wheel drive. There’s even a hybrid option (reviewed separately).

The Camry’s aggressive good looks, spacious interior, and well-appointed cabin are but a few of its attributes. There’s also exceptional fuel economy, a stellar reliability and resale record, and 5-star crash test scores, making it one of the safest sedans money can buy.

Competitors like the Honda Accord, Kia K5, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima are hot on the Camry’s heels.

What’s New:

Why mess with a good thing? The 2024 Toyota Camry carries over with only one minor change: the removal of Amazon Alexa capability.

Our Recommendation:

The Toyota Camry SE is our pick. Its features, price, and fuel economy can’t be beaten, and you can even get AWD. Add a little visual distinction by ordering the Nightshade Package.

2023 Toyota Camry LE: $26,420 (FWD), $27,820 (AWD)

Although it’s the least expensive Camry, the LE trim doesn’t feel like an entry-level model. In fact, when you tack on the available optional equipment, it serves up just about everything you’d want in a family sedan and then some.

A 203-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine provides ample acceleration while sipping fuel. It’s matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels, but buyers can opt for all-wheel drive (AWD). Doing so drops horsepower to 202 and lessens the gas tank’s capacity by 1.4 gallons.

Bolstering its commitment to safety, Toyota arms the Camry LE with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ driver-assist suite.

The package includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control (works at speeds above 25 mph), and Road Sign Assist, which can detect certain highway road signs and post them in the driver display.

TSS 2.5+ also brings lane-tracing assist, which keeps the vehicle centered between lane markers, even when rounding slight curves.

Lane-departure warning with steering assist can detect when the Camry drifts from its lane and alert the driver. If the driver fails to act, the system will make slight adjustments to keep the vehicle from crossing the lane markers.

Additional safety equipment includes 10 airbags, electronic traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, a rearview monitor, a rear-seat reminder, and a tire pressure monitor.

One look at the LE’s exterior bolsters our assertion this car doesn’t look like a base model. Standard fare includes handsome 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with a remote key fob, auto on/off bi-LED headlights, LED taillights, power mirrors, washer-activated intermittent wipers, a dark gray grille, and a shark-fin antenna.

Opening the driver’s door reveals an equally handsome cabin. Where many base model cars offer manual front seats, the Camry LE provides an 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support. In the back, a 60/40-split folding rear seat makes room for passengers or additional cargo, with fabric upholstery in gray, black, or beige.

The LE features one-touch up/down power windows, power door locks, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 4.2-inch driver’s multi-information display.

An overhead console with map lights and sunglass storage, a rear window defroster, and dual sun visors equipped with lighted vanity mirrors and sliding extensions round out the interior features.

The LE’s 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Optional connected services include Toyota Safety Connect and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Options for the LE include a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and Smart Key keyless entry with proximity key fob.

Also available is a power sunroof and the Audio Upgrade Package that adds a wireless charging pad, a 9-speaker audio upgrade, and rear seat air vents.

The Cold Weather Package adds heat to the front seats, steering wheel, and side mirrors.

With the $1,095 destination charge (in most states), the 2024 Toyota Camry LE costs $27,515. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $519. See 2024 Toyota Camry LE models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry LE includes:

  • Automatic emergency braking – The system can detect potential collisions and warn drivers in certain low-speed situations. If the driver fails to slow down, the system can slow or stop the car before an accident occurs.
  • 8-way power driver’s seat – The LE’s power driver’s seat permits all sizes and shapes to find the ideal driving position. Includes power lumbar support to help reduce lower back fatigue.
  • Available Cold Weather Package – With heated seats, steering wheel, and side mirrors, this group is a must-have for anyone living where snow and cold are routine.

2024 Toyota Camry SE: $27,960 (FWD), $29,360 (AWD)

Think of the Camry SE as a sportier-looking version of the LE. The equipment isn’t all that different, with the main upgrades being a blackout headlight surround treatment, a rear spoiler, 18-inch black alloy wheels, a black mesh grille, and color-keyed rocker panels. Color-keyed heated side mirrors come standard, as does a single exhaust with dual chrome tips.

The SE ditches the LE’s cloth seats in favor of SofTex synthetic leather upholstery, while the interior gains a leather-trimmed steering wheel and a tire-pressure monitoring system with direct pressure readouts.

An optional Nightshade Special Edition package elevates the SE trim’s appearance, adding a black mesh grille from the Camry TRD, black mirror caps, a black rear spoiler, and black-trimmed headlights and taillights. Unique 19-inch bronze wheels further distinguish the Nightshade, as do its paint choices of Midnight Black, Ice Cap (white), and Reservoir Blue.

Except for the Nightshade Package, the SE’s options and packages are practically the same as the LE’s.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the 2024 Toyota Camry SE costs $28,055. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $548. See 2024 Toyota Camry SE models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry XLE: $31,170 (FWD), $32,570 (AWD), XLE V6 $36,295

The XLE expands on the LE’s standard equipment while opening the door to more features, including an available V6 engine. Like the LE and SE, the XLE derives power from a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. All-wheel drive is optional, but not with the V6.

As one of the most popular trims in the Camry lineup, the XLE brings a lot of value to a $30K-ish sedan. Building off the LE, the XLE adds full LED headlights, heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators, Smart Key keyless entry, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Interior upgrades include a wireless charging pad, an electric parking brake, rear air vents, a 7-inch driver multi-information display, leather upholstery, and an 8-way power passenger seat. Also standard are heated front seats, wood inlay interior trim, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear adjustable headrests, and a HomeLink universal transceiver.

Safety improvements include a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, while the adaptive cruise control gains a full-speed-range function that allows for low-speed follow at speeds down to 1 mph. The system can also bring the vehicle to a complete stop and then resume travel once traffic moves forward.

The XLE’s infotainment system is upgraded to a 9-inch touchscreen and given additional connected service apps such as Service Connect and Remote Connect.

Options for the XLE include a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, a JBL audio system, and navigation.

The Driver Assist Package adds ventilated front seats, rear automatic emergency braking, a 360-degree bird’s-eye view camera, and a 10-inch color head-up display.

The XLE V6 adds a 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and includes all the XLE’s standard equipment plus a 10-inch color head-up display, JBL audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. It also adds about $5,000 to the bottom line.

Options for the XLE V6 mirror those of the XLE, minus any equipment already standard.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the 2024 Toyota Camry XLE costs $32,265. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $609. See 2024 Toyota Camry XLE models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry XLE includes:

  • Smart Key – This keyless entry system uses a proximity key fob that alerts the car to your presence. Once in range, simply touching the door handle unlocks the vehicle, while pushing a button is all that’s needed to start the engine.
  • Blind-spot monitor – This system watches for vehicles in your adjacent blind spots and warns the driver. If the turn signal is activated and it’s unsafe to change lanes, the Camry will sound an audible alert. Surprisingly, this is not standard on the SE and LE.
  • Available ventilated front seats – These help keep Camry XLE driver and passenger cool and dry when the temperatures outside soar.

2024 Toyota Camry XSE: $31,720 (FWD), $33,120 (AWD), XSE V6 $36,845

Like the SE is to the LE, the XSE is just a sportier version of the XLE, with much of the same feature content but a bit more pizzazz.

The XSE adds 19-inch gloss-black wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, dual exhaust, a unique grill with a gloss black surround, and a color-keyed rear spoiler. Also included are color-keyed rocker panels and a mesh lower grille insert.

Interior upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, unique dash and door trim in patterned metal, and available perforated red leather upholstery.

The XSE’s optional features are the same as the XLE, except for a 2-tone paint option featuring a black-painted roof.

The XSE V6 has all the same equipment as the XLE V6 and the same option packages minus equipment already included with the V6 upgrade.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the 2024 Toyota Camry XSE costs $32,815. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $619. See 2024 Toyota Camry XSE models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry XSE includes:

  • Sport suspension – The XSE’s sport suspension includes stiffer springs and shock absorbers for a firmer ride and improved cornering.
  • 19-inch gloss black wheels – These large alloy wheels give the XSE a rather sinister look, especially when combined with the optional black-painted roof treatment.
  • Available panoramic sunroof – This massive glass panel covers the entire passenger compartment. A front panel opens to let in more air, and an electric sunshade covers it when necessary.

2024 Toyota Camry TRD: $33,485

The Camry TRD (Toyota Racing Development) is less about the family and more about having fun. It builds off the SE trim’s standard features set, then adds the 3.5-liter V6 engine, a TRD-tuned sport suspension, TRD cat-back exhaust, and 19-inch matte-black wheels.

The TRD treatment carries over to the exterior with a gloss-black grille and mesh insert, color-keyed sport side rocker panels, a gloss-black front splitter, side aero skirts, a rear diffuser with red pinstriping, and a gloss-black pedestal style rear spoiler.

The TRD interior upgrades the SofTex upholstery with black cloth inserts, red seatbelts and stitching, and headrests with red embroidered TRD logos. Red stitching also adorns the steering wheel and shift knob.

To improve overall rigidity, the TRD’s rear seat is fixed in place and does not fold down. And because having a big hole in the roof will also lead to body flex, the sunroof option has also been removed.

Oddly, the TRD’s climate system reverts to a single-zone automatic climate control system.

Options for the TRD include summer or all-season tires, the JBL audio system, and the 2-tone paint scheme with the black-painted roof.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the 2023 Toyota Camry TRD costs $34,580. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $653. See 2024 Toyota Camry TRD models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry TRD includes:

  • TRD sport suspension – Developed by Toyota’s racing division, this track-tuned suspension adds stiffer springs and shock absorbers, beefy stabilizer bars, and heavier steering.
  • TRD cat-back exhaust – From the catalytic converter back, this custom exhaust helps the engine breathe more freely, improving performance while emitting a rumbling exhaust note.
  • TRD interior – In all black with bright red accents, the sporty interior of the TRD Camry looks particularly fetching.
