Rolling back into showrooms, the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross re-stakes its claim as a fuel-efficient and reliable urban runabout sized just right for tight city parking. Slotting below the RAV4 in Toyota’s lineup, the Corolla Cross makes its mark in the crowded small SUV segment. Among its key rivals are the Kia Seltos, Chevy Trailblazer, Subaru Crosstrek, and Volkswagen Taos.
We won’t belabor the rather unenthusiastic performance of the Corolla Cross. It has sufficient thrust for zipping around town, as well as highway cruising. Its 169-horsepower 4-cylinder engine is attached to an automatic transmission specifically engineered more for mileage than quick sprints to 60 mph. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is available as a $1,300 option on all trim levels.
Even if this Toyota’s performance doesn’t rain smiles, its 32 mpg in mixed city and highway driving should please the budget-conscious. That’s just one of the reasons we like the Corolla Cross. To that, you can add its array of advanced safety technologies, affordable price, and better-than-average cargo space. What’s New:
Toyota has basically left the Corolla Cross alone for 2024. The one notable change? Improved wireless smartphone charging for the LE and XLE trims.
Our Recommendation:
The Corolla Cross LE is the best-selling trim and the one we’d pick. Although the base L is nicely equipped, the LE, for just a couple of grand more, adds some of our favorite features like automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, auto on/off headlights, and blind-spot monitoring.

2024 Toyota Corolla Cross L: $23,610
As the gateway to the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross, the L trim level still provides several sought-after features. They include LED headlights, heated power outboard mirrors, and adaptive cruise control.
Also standard are 17-inch steel wheels, manual air conditioning, cloth seating, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, and a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel. Toyota also includes a 4.2-inch driver-information display, a center console, and an overhead console.
The L’s infotainment system features a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a 6-speaker audio system.
Every Corolla Cross comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 safety suite, which includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. Also included is lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road-sign assist. Road Edge Detection sounds an alert if the Corolla Cross is in danger of leaving the road. Also featured is intersection assist, which warns of approaching traffic when making a left turn. It includes automatic braking.
Toyota doesn’t offer any factory-installed options for the L.

Adaptive cruise control — Once you have engaged the system and set the speed, it will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, braking and accelerating as needed.
Heated outboard mirrors — Electrically heated, these mirrors automatically clear away ice, snow, and fog.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — These apps allow your smartphone to interface with your vehicle. Not only can you access the music on your phone, but you can also send messages, receive messages, make calls, and so forth through your vehicle’s media system.
2024 Toyota Corolla Cross LE: $25,940
The LE is the best-selling Corolla Cross model, but only by a little. It barely edges out the XLE. Nevertheless, we feel the LE is the best value among the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross models.
Building on the L, the LE adds automatic on/off LED headlights, heated power outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Also included are proximity keyless entry, push-button start, rear privacy glass, single-zone automatic climate control, and wireless smartphone charging.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
Toyota offers a Moonroof Package for $940 and a Moonroof Package with options ($1,740), which includes an upgraded JBL audio system with nine speakers.

2024 Toyota Corolla Cross LE includes:
Proximity keyless entry — If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock when you approach the vehicle or touch the door handle. Push-button start pairs with proximity keyless entry.
Smartphone charging — You can charge any Qi-compatible smartphone without using a cable.
Auto on/off headlights — Photosensors detect a reduction in daylight, which automatically engages the headlights and taillights. The system turns off the lights in the daytime.
2024 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE: $27,835
If you want more than the LE offers, the XLE adds LED taillights and fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Also included are dynamic guidelines for the backup camera, faux-leather seating, heated front seats, and a leather shift knob.
A 7-inch driver-information display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and braking assist are standard, too.
A $1,250 Convenience Package includes a power liftgate and a moonroof. The $2,050 Convenience Package with options is the standard Convenience Package with a 9-speaker JBL audio system added. You can also get the XLE with another Convenience Package that includes all the features already mentioned, plus auto-leveling adaptive headlights ($2,665).
