The 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid looks and acts just like its gas-only counterpart, demonstrating superior fuel economy ratings, especially in around-town driving. The gas/electric hybrid powertrain works seamlessly and, unlike an electric vehicle, won’t give you range anxiety so long as there’s gas in the tank.
The RAV4 Hybrid comes in seven trims, each costing about $1,600 more across the board than a non-hybrid RAV4 equivalent trim. There are two additional trims unique to the hybrid.
Compared to the gas-only RAV4, the hybrid gains more horsepower and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). It also substitutes a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for the non-hybrid’s excellent 8-speed automatic.
As hybrid vehicles continue to gain converts, several other gas-electric compact SUVs stand ready to challenge the RAV4 Hybrid. They include the Ford Escape Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, Kia Sportage Hybrid, and the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid.

What’s New:
Army Green paint is now an option on the Woodland Edition trim, which also gains a standard Activity Mount for carrying bike rakes or cargo carriers weighing no more than 110 pounds.
The Woodland Edition also gets a new Weather Package, which adds a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, and front wiper de-icers.
Our Recommendation:
The Toyota RAV4 XLE Premium Hybrid delivers an excellent combination of features, pricing, and optional equipment. However, if you want a sportier look and a few more bells and whistles, the XSE or Limited is the way to go.
As for the Woodland Edition, it’s an excellent idea, but it can’t go off-roading in the way the gas-powered TRD Off Road or Adventure can, and it feels somewhat sparse regarding features.

2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid LE: $31,475
Like all RAV4 Hybrid grades, the LE features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors (one up front and one powering the rear wheels) for a combined output of 219 horsepower. Power runs through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
Among the LE’s five drive modes is an EV mode for running solely on electric power and a Trail mode for venturing off-road.
From here, the hybrid LE follows the same content and options as its non-hybrid twin.
